Hey folks.
Having a slight issue with my 300. It's the B14 engine.
It starts up fine from cold, but if power is applied it starts running really rough and wants to cut out.
This also happens once the engine is up to temperature, under normal driving conditions, particularly at low revs.
Additionally, if the engine is switched off once it's warm, it flat out won't start again unless you wait for a while.
It does smell a bit rich so I'm wondering if it's overfuelling? Also gathered from looking around on here that it could be a weak spark.
The car was taken off the road for the winter and as such has been started very sporadically in recent months, much less driven. Not sure if that's a contributing factor or what.
Apologies if I've provoked anyone's ire by posting what seems to be a fairly common problem, I do know there's a myriad of threads on here covering similar problems, but I thought I'd get my own straight answer.
Thanks in advance!
Ignition or fuel issue, not sure.
Re: Ignition or fuel issue, not sure.
I had similar trouble with a 1.4 and it was due to the idle solenoid on the carb. If you disconnect it, then put the ignition on and touch the connector back onto the solenoid again it should click absolutely every time. If it doesn't then you need a new one. I managed to get one from a carby specialist around 12 years ago!
