B172 Carb Idle solenoid
Does anyone know where to find a replacement part for the idle solenoid for the Solex 28-34 / Cisac Z10 Carb? I can't find it anywhere.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hello, I would try e-mailing:
dafhobby
because I can't see one on their website or asking on the facebook group.
There is also Webcon who do Solex parts: here.

That sounds like a born built solution. Are they in stock and if so are they new or used? I haven't had one fail recently but I'm always interested in sources? I guess we should ask the proprietor ;-0
Actually, for Tinituiset, I would be interested in getting hold of a few broken ones as I have some ideas about repairing them, so rather than throw the old one away, do let me cover postage, etc.

Re: B172 Carb Idle solenoid
I actually bought the car without the Idle solenoid, so I don't have the broken one, I'm sorry.
The car is idling at around 1500 rpm right now... but it doesn't run ideally so I was looking for one to try to make it idle slower. I don't have much idea of cars as this is my first "project" or "restoration" to say something... haha
I saw this one on ebay and I bought it in the end... I think it's the one I need. We'll see when I get it, if it doesn't fit I'll check where you told me! Many thanks!
I'm also not really sure if the car is worth restoring but it is entretaining for me to fiddle with it... so If anyone would be so kind to have a look at some pics and give me an opinion I would appreciate it!

Hello Robbert, do you know where I can get the clip that holds the bobbin on end of the speedometer cable in the hub grease cap. Ta jc
Poor OP must be wondering what's happened to his thread.

Re: B172 Carb Idle solenoid
Okay
So it's a 5 door 1987 Volvo 340 GL with the B172 engine:

In my opinion it is in good condition on the outside, it has some minor body damage, small bumps from hail on the roof and and another bump in the rear door.

The engine has 120.000 km (about 75.000 miles), head gasket was done 5000 km ago by the previous owner and instead of renewing the rest of the gaskets they just used the silicone goop which in my opinion is not nice haha

The engine idles at 1500rpm and stalls when driven at relatively low rpm (There might be too much petrol?) I'm trying to fix this first since this is what most concerns me... I would like to not have to stop on the side of the road and wait for the petrol to evaporate. When the rpm's are pushed the engine works "fine" (I guess).

There was a little bit of oxidation and corrosion on the battery place so I painted it with anti rust paint and I'd say it turned out pretty well.

I also disasembled all the front and cleaned a bit everything, I changed the cooling fluid and found that the expansion tank has a leak (due to built up pressure, could be?)

I have serviced the Carburetor following a guide from Mac (I believe), new gaskets, checked floats and so on...
Now I´m waiting on the idle solenoid and I'm disasembling the intake and exhaust manifolds so that I can replace the goop and the gaskets.
So far I think it's in decent condition... The gearbox is a bit rough when I'm about to change gears... but all of them work "Ok"
Where should I look for corrosion or what are the weak points I should check?
Thanks for the help
