Vario reverse selection & more

Hi,

I've added a post "My new car!" to the general discussion section. The basic details of my problem are that the gearbox grinds the first time I press the accelerator afer selecting reverse. A bit of a jiggle on the gear stick and it goes ok. The car also has a lumpiness/knocking when idling but no noticeable problems when driving (accelerates ok and cruises at 70mph no problems). Any ideas on what might be going on would be greatly appreciated.
