B14 twin carbs?

Post by Ali » 25 Jan 2006 03:10 pm

I was discussing this the other night with Steve and wondered if it'd be possible? We know the B14 is a revvy engine and could do with some extra grunt, is there any reason some twin carbs couldn't be used? Don't know what size and it'd involve welding up a custom inlet manifold but with a more aggressive cam and lightened flywheel surely it'd be a nice responsive free revving engine? Just chucking ideas about really,
cheers

Cams are availible, and I would have thought the carbs would be out there, must be some the GTT crew used? You'd probably only put it to around 100-110 though I'd guess

I'd say more power than that Chris, with a cam and twin carbs, exhaust I'd expect more than 110bhp. How tuneable the B14 is I don't know, but people doing similar things using twin 40s on Estelles/Rapids with the 1.3 engine give upto 140-150bhp, although not very torquey a modified B14 should give good power.

Im not sure that the GTT boys do use twins though, the standard carb on the turbos can be jetted for really high boost and they've brought out injection kits for them now. Not sure how easy it'd be to use a set of twin webber 40s or something with a manifold already on them and cut it off at the flange, cut the volvo one off at the flange and weld up some new pipework. It'd be original and get a crazy cam, have it revving to 7k, you know your tempted Chris

Fair play then! Erm.. I'd love to give it a try, considering I love the B14... but, as Ali said, it's broke :( Wasn't my fault though!

Yes guys. For a long time waited when will begin discussion of a theme about the dual carburettors. At frend volvo 343 with the double carburettor (b14 4e). Was more exact it than it has broken. It has made simply to order new input collectors of 2 pieces has put two Weber 32DIR result it has turned out 112 horsepowers. Carburettors were finished. Any 2.0 liter machine from a traffic light remained far behind. Then it seemed to it a little and it has put itself(himself) horizontal carburettors Weber DCOE 40/45 , the real has turned out четырх a throttle admission at the stand the motor has shown 125 (0 - 100 - 8.8 sec ). It is more than anything did not change. Was not in time.

I'd buy a set of cheap bike carbs off ebay, cost about 30 notes, then make a steel inlet manifold for them, should work as well as a set of 40's but will be much much cheaper and easier to set up too :D

I did see a set of twin carbs someone had on a five once, sidedraught webers, but he was selling without manifold for something like £500. Bah, if only I still had a working 1.4! Come on Ali, make this happen!

Huskyracer, I had a similar idea. My friend has a motorcycle Suzuki 650cc , and it has given me the 4 carburettors from it at it on the carburettor on the cylinder (it was necessary to make only 4 inlet collectors and to synchronize all).
As there was no time and there was no opportunity so them and has not put. Lay in garage.
By the way about the charge on 100 kilometers about 35 litres of gasoline.

But it will go as a rocket.
