Hiya guys
just have a problem with poor running of my 340 at the moment under acceleration there is a point in the throttle travel about 3/4 throttle ish that the engine splutters and isnt at all happy being.
Do you recon that the carb needs a rebuild kit or its sucking in air (air leak) some where in the system
Cheers

Have you checked the leads and distributor cap plus rotor arm and plugs? Does it sound like pinking? It could be the little rubber air pipe that goes from the rocker cover (below the air filter) to the carburettor. The venturi in it might need a wash out with white spirit.

I'd say check out the distributer, I had this on my 1.7 a few weeks back. Heavy acceleration or going up hill caused it to struggle. Does it sometimes suffer pulling away from rest if you don't let the clutch slip a bit more than usual.

No probs mate 1.4's do it every so often its a good plan to check every few months or so. Mine did it a real PITA if you are going to overtake etc!!!

B14s are enough of a PITA when it comes to overtaking when they're working properly! Hopefully I'll not have to touch Nessy's carb again until that engine finds its way into a go-kart...
cheers

Mine had Exactly the same problem.
tightened them up, but then the top half of the carb came loose! then i tightened those and it was forever running rough. used to start running rough every 50+ miles on a motorway and eventually stop and not want to rev atall.
got a new carb from a scrappy £20. put it on and never had a prob since

It's the single biggest problem with the 300 series as a whole.....hence the stickied thread all about it.
cheers
