ITG Megaflow

So... There's an ITG Megaflow airfilter installed on my 340.
I also changed the main nozzle(???, very little part inside the carb) to a one size bigger.
The car runs great now. More power and torque... (or is it just in my head?). Definetly better sounds.

I've thought of a some kind of a air intake system for the filter. The air around the filter must be pretty hot, because the exhaust manifold is right below. Any suggestions?

That's the question... Is there a real power difference? sm14

should be a bit better, but not my much. knN filters report an extra 5% horsepower

Yep. I think it's a bit more powerful now. The car starts slipping and sliding more eagerly now when the road is wet. Also all the little coughing when flooring is gone. And the gas consumption is reduced by 0,5 - 1litre per 100km.
I think it's much better now. Didn't cost much.... The filter with base plate was around 75euros.
The bad thing is I can't use it at winter time, because the carb will freeze.

Winter is coming and I had to change the original air filter back.
Now I can tell you that there is a real power difference. It would be interesting to get it measured. I'd say that the power gain was at least 5% with the ITG filter.
Right nowI'm considering an ITG pro filter for the winter. It should fit in to the original boxing.

The cruicial thing here is that Juha re-jetted his carb to compensate - that's what most people don't do, and why most people don't notice a difference!

cheers

It may not freeze. In our GL we have original box but the bottom of the box has been sawed off and the box is located behind the driving light. So there isn't original hot-air-piping left from where it would take hotter air when cold. Hasn't freezed in wintertime yet. :P Turbo heats up the air a bit though.. Dunno would it freeze with intercooler. :P
