Alright guys,

Just a quick question.

Is a Renault 5 speedo cable the same as my Volvo 340 (1.7)

EDIT - or do any other cars use the same cable?

Thanks

I don't think that Renault would have same speedo cable as it is front wheel drive and certainly have totally different suspension. In 300 speedo cable connects to near front wheel hub.

I think that only 300-series have this similar speedo cable, also there is 4 different speedo cables in 300-series:
1976--8.81 Smiths
9.81--8.84 Smiths
9.84--1991 VDO
9.84--1991 Yazaki

New part seem to be under 20€, but Yazaki model is not available. These are prices in finnish autopart shop, not from Volvo dealer, also prices are not likely same everywhere.

same kind of speedo cable was used on some VW-s (Transporter etc.) their cable do not suit to Volvo. i managed to fix one from some kind of random one myself - had to do small changes at front left wheel hub...works several years now...

I know Yazaki made instruments for 700s, but I've never seen them for 300s. Anyone got any more info on this?

cheers
