Has anyone tried a GT6 cam in a street car and how did it go.
Was it able to idle and how how was the driveability?

I'll follow this thread, 'cause I'm also interested in this subject! Has anyone also used a H or K-cam with standard ignition and fuel-ECU? I've read a lot 'bout the cams, but most run on MS...

I still did not make any progress with fitting the K-cam, i'll let you know when it's done. I hope it will work with the standard ECU although the K-cam is not that radical i guess.

I've got a k cam and a d cam hanging around. The k was originally bought for use in my B230, but might stick it in the B200 until I get round to putting the B230 in. AFAIK it should be ok, as its not a massively aggressive cam, still quite tame comparitively.

Well i've put a v-cam in my 360glt and from the powerdyn results I got it looks like the ecu isn't fuelling correctly for it at the top end, i'm making peak power at 5200rpm and its meant to be 5700rpm with the standard cam so this should be even higher! It therefore appears that its pointless in swapping cams if your keeping the le-jetronic management as you'll lose power not gain it

I havent used but ive heard that K-cam gives a bit more torque to upper rpm. And also ive heard k-cam doesnt work well in original (not-tuned)engine and it reguires better flows from exhaust and intakevalves.
Sooo..remove your cylinderhead and take it to proper workshop, tell those guys what you want (do you want power to upper or lower rpm, do you want torque to upper or lower rpm and what kind of cam you are using and they make your cylinderhead to match your wishes

)
GT6-cam is quite rare and it has been used in VERY powerful volvo-engines. It is way too rough to not-tuned engine

I am running a b23 with a h cam, ported head, extractors, 3 bar pressure regulator and a lightened flywheel. I have dyno'd it at 78 kw. I am still running the le jetronic and looking for more power. the k cam works well and are easy to find. I have tried one in a few different engines. the h cam work better though.

Try this which i found

And i still think that GT6-cam is waaaay too rough cam..It is used in racing only

Is that power at the wheels or crank? 78kW is 105bhp, which even assuming we're talking at the wheels is less power than a stock B23E, never mind one which has had all that cool work done to it.

I strongly suspect that as with Cam's car, LE-Jet is running the engine somewhat (albeit not dangerously) lean, limiting power. Did you get a wideband AFR plot during the dyno pull? Ali's car appears to be a clear example of this, although we didn't get before/after results for any of the 'tests' we've done, so it's not that fair a test.
For reference, I made ~115 bhp at the wheels with a B200, K cam, sidedraft carbs and the crappy stock exhaust. I'm assuming you're using the stock B200 intake manifold? That's supposed to be good to ~160 bhp on a B200E, so that shouldn't be a problem for you.
The GT6 is a great cam, but I think you'll have to go programmable EFI to get the benefit of it. Megasquirt is cheap, and not so hard to install. Just out of interest, do you have access to a GT6 locally, or were you going to get one from SAM (or whoever!)?
cheers

Just wondering..Why to buy GT6? Its racing cam and needs high rpm to work proper..Or do you leave from trafficlights like Formula-driver?!?
There are other, more suitable cams for streetcar than GT6, Just recommend...

we use a camshaft regrinder at work. I took the specs for the gt6 to him.
he can grind one very similar for about $250 aust. he did recomend that it wouldn't do much until about 4000rpm.
I have an inlet manifold from a 940, b230fb on my car. The 78 kw is at the wheels. I didn't have any test equipment hooked up when i was running it on the dyno but i think u are probably right about it leaning off at high revs. Your twin side draughts would definitely make more power and also use more fuel than the Le.

Yep..engine doesnt do much until 4000rpm with that cam so in "normal" driving it WILL make larger fueleconomy and makes driving hard..it also makes you crasy because when you leave from from trafficlights you always have to put gaspedal down and go with smoking tires
I recommend H or K cam
78kW from b23 isnt much..try to get more power, but still H or K cam will go in your engine

At the very least plan on getting a seriously short diff - the one from a 340 1.4 5 speed is probably a good start, but if the one from a 340 vario will fit the manual diff casing...
cheers

the vario doesnt have a diff. at the same time, its got an LSD, which is kinda clever.

I've got the K-cam installed for a while now. It gives longer torque in all the gears. Especially in first gear that's a big plus. With the normal cam the accelerating power is gone around 4000 rpm. With this cam you still have much torque at that rpm. But when you really want to have all the power you should drive at high rpm, which isn't really fuel economic and comfortable.
I'm doing about 4000 rpm in fifth gear at a speed of 140-150 km/h. Can anybody tell what B200E's with normal cam run at that speed?
