Carb / Air Filter problem...

Post by petavius » 13 Aug 2006 12:11 pm

Quick query about this issue...I'll let Carl explain!!

When Adam came to have a look at the car he pointed a couple of things out to us, one of these things was that the air filter/carb had a bit of a woble on it. I started to have a bit of an investgate yesterday and as you can see from the photo below one of the bolts for the air filter housing is not screwed down. I started to tighten the nut down to discover that the thread was turning rather than the nut, I could easly wiggle the tread lose. Is there any way either rethread the carb and put the existing mounting thread (or what ever its called) in or a new one.

you can always use JB weld in the
thread hole and let it dry with the stud in there .

Your talents are wasted here - Turbobricks.com is for you!

p.s. I'm not being nasty...it's a long running joke that they're JB-Weld obsessed over there :)

cheers

Today as promised i had a look at the carb on Gems car before i go off to uni. I took the carb back to the garage to strip it down and clean all the jets as the car was not starting very well.
I also sorted the stud problem out. Al in all the carb seemed ok al be it caked in 17 or so years of dirt.
All in all the carb no runs very well and the car starts a treat. Just thought i would share some before and after pics!!!
