howdy folks, basically im sick of people saying my 360 is slow boring, u know the usual attitude towards volvos!, any one got any ideas for mods (daft question) rather make it a quicker 0-60 than jus put body kits on it, im in the uk and so far ive found no aftermarket parts for a 360.
its a 2.0 (carbs), manual, f reg (1988), 56k miles, GLE
i also heard that a 2.0 turbo angine out of a 940 or 740 (wentworth??) would jus fit straight in cos its the same block, can any one confirm this, because i have an opertunity to get a complete one,
i am a fairly competant mechanic any thing is possible!!
cheers folks

first thing i would do is fit a high flow air filter they do help then try the exhaust. You could try to rejet the carby

The 360 uses Volvo's redblock engine, so named as the block is painted red
700 series and 900 series cars use redblocks as well, so they'll swap easily. I'm not entirely sure about clearances, but someone else will clarify. You may like to consider the 2.3 redblock engine for more power
If you want something simpler, you could try twin carbs, a la Foggy

I wouldn't bother with the NA B200...not enough of an increase to be found to match modern hot hatches without a lot of work. Dropping in a B230K from a 740 or 240 would be pretty much a bolt in (with the usual sump and pumps swapped) for a moderate gain (~120 bhp, but 145lbft torque?).
Beyond that, you're into turbo power. All 2.0 or 2.3 red-block engines from the 700 and 900 series bolt right in, but you'll need to do custom work to plumb them up (i.e. exhaust!) and sort the fuel/spark management out. I'd get one from a very late 740 or any 940 - with a B230FT rather than an ET. The ETs made more power as standard, but FTs with the more modern EMS take better to modifications. One of the guys with a 940 made just shy of 300lbft of torque from one with just chips, an exhaust, and some more boost. It's a bit more complex than that, but we can get onto that later.
Honestly, I'd find a donor car and swap the complete engine and electronics over - engine swaps and engine development are two very different skill (and time) levels!
cheers

ET????? (an engine suffix or does it stand for somthing) think i can guess what it means! ive got access to a full garage so tools and skills isnt necessarily a problem, im trying to keep the insurance down aswell but we will see how that goes!
its probably going to be an easter sort of thing, if i can get the landrover done in time
