I've not posted about this yet, but I've finally had my recent poor running fixed. It proved to be mostly down to the baseline mixture being set incorrectly - hence why it was ok on full throttle, but poor when pulling away. It had been set like this for 2-3 years by the garage we've used for 15 years, so I might have to find out why...
This is unlikely to be the case for you, but what I recommend doing is finding someone in your area who has a good reputation, and getting them to do a 'tune-up'. Mobile 'Crypton' tuners are quite common, and this guy did my work from the back of his van (even though it was outside his garage). It cost me £50, but the depth of knowledge and experience was well worth it. Seriously, it's like a different car.
I don't know if you do your own servicing, (ie: the car rarely sees a mechanic) but if this is the case, and if - like most of us - you're no genius mechanic, it might be worth seeking out an engine specialist to tell you exactly what is right / wrong with it, even if you end up fixing it yourself.
Various people told me to replace my spark plug leads, and it was a reasonable suggestion, however the Crypton machine revealed that that would have been £15 wasted. You can end up spending the cost of an expert diagnosis on parts by clutching at straws, and yet you've fixed nothing. Knowledge is power
cheers
