I've measured the time from 0-60mph in my 340 1.4DL to 23 seconds, which seems awfully slow?!? What is your time?

Not tested seriously but with my welded diff(More grip) and lightened car(940kg) It goes around 9-10sec.. Its an 360gl with b200k (100hp or so)

340 diesel was 20 seconds by factory and 1.4 should be quicker, either some horsies are gone to better place or car needs some different technique to get best out from it?

My 360 goes to around 9 seconds, 240 is at least double of that :D

mine... mk2 1.4 DL, 4 speed

did 60 in 15.5 seconds last I measured it I believe, can't remember as it was quite a while ago.

Most of the time taken is in the 50-60 range, fairly brisk until you have to change in to third.

Yeah, think mine does it in around 15 seconds too... definitely dies when into third. It's not bad otherwise, will have to time it properly sometime

That prettty much confirms something's wrong with my engine.. It actually used to go slower, but i took it to the highway and gave full throttle for several minutes and it suddenly woke up, it was a massive increase in power.

Changing to thrid is where you could be goig wrong. With the 1.7 or a 360 with 5 speed (not so sure about 4 speed box) you do not want to change to third for a 0-60. At nly 6000 rpm you should be doing 60 MPH real speed not 65 indicated. 6000 rpm is only just over max HP revs so no need to be changing up.

are you measuring the 60mph on the standard speedo. If you are then indicated 60mph could be about 54mph (as it is on my 360)

Dai are you sure?
I don't have a rev counter in my 1.4, but I always change up before 60 as it sounds like it's gonna blow up! In a really good way of course.

I'm very sure. WIth the 2ltr lump it'll hit 70 in second!!! I think 60 is a little over 6000 on std rims. I would have thought 2nd would he a little higher geared on a 4 speed anyway making it a little lower revs.

I'll give you a demo with road angel if I can manage to video it

My 343 goes from zero to 60mph in 38 seconds on LPG, and 30 on petrol. That's not normal, is it?

My vario does in 15 seconds.. So thats not normal... :]

I'll do a little video clip this week. It will be with a very worn 1.7 that burns more oil than LPG!!!

Initial take off will be slow as I dont want to hammer the prop untill I've got the uprated one.

Later 4 speeds have the 3.64 diff, are the gear ratios the same?

There's no way my 1.4 4 speed will do 60mph in 2nd gear, at all... 50mph maybe just about. The 360 will do 60mph in 2nd but only because it doesn't have a rev limiter in the renix. Even then, that's only indicated - so I doubt real speed 60mph is even obtainable in 2nd gear in a GLT.

Dai did you install VTAK?

If my 140mph speedo is accurate then my car does 85 in 3rd on the limiter and 112in 4th on limiter, unsure of top. Need to check accuracy on GPS.
Remember that is revving to 7k on limiter and running the 3.82 final drive from the 1.4.
