Carburettor service kits.

Post by mac » 17 Apr 2008 02:40 pm

During my latest delving into the dark places of the earth I find that service kits are still available for both the Weber 32 DIR 104/100 ('84' on B14s) and the Solex Cisac 28/34 Z10 (B172K) from:-

Webcon UK Ltd.
Unit A1,
Dolphin Road,
Sunbury,
Middx, TW16 7HE.

tel. 01932 787100
e-mail allan.smith@webcon.co.uk

For the Weber the part no.is 9301010500 @ £43.47 +vat. (4 in stock)

For the Solex the part no.is 9631010650 @ £26.60 +vat. (1 in stock)

Get-em whilst they're still around!

More delving has produced:-

Service kits for the Weber 32DIR 104/100 (340 B14.4E) from:-

Fast Roadcars,
Highmeadow Cottage,
Abercarn,
Newport,
Gwent, NP11 5AE.

Tel. 01495 244362
Mob. 07900 373389
e-mail sales@fastroadcars.co.uk

currently in stock at £23.70 delivered UK.

Contact is "Anthony" He tells me that he can generally supply and has stock at the moment. (I am not sure if, at this price, they are genuine Weber kits so I have ordered two kits today to evaluate).

Report will follow. (I shall probably use a kit to produce a "how to do it" article if anyone is keen).

Hi Jeff,
Next on my list to look into!

I imagine a kit for the "early" B19A cars (Zenith Stromberg 175 CD-2SE) would be easy to find as that type of carb was very common throughout the 70s and 80s. The problem will be for the later B200K engines (Solex 34/34 Cisac - similar but not the same as the B172K and 400 series carbs). In general it seems much harder to source Solex products.

Whatever info I can find I will post.

The kits I ordered from "Fast Roadcars" arrived this morning. They are not "genuine" Weber but are based around a kit made by "Promek" and supplemented with additional components.

What they are however are the same kits (under the same part no.) marketed by "Webcon" at £43.47 + vat. So for the price of £23.70 delivered from "Fast Roadcars" they seem to be excellent value for money! (sorry, sorry, sorry CarlD if you have already bought from Webcon).

The kit is a general kit for the 32DIR series and has a range of gaskets, diaphrams, seals etc. It has two different mixture screws and two float valves and should cover earlier DIRs as well as the 104/100.

As I said, when I have time I shall use one kit to do a "how to" article (if anybody is interested). Looks like these kits are a cracking buy.

Mac, didn't Webcon buy both Weber and Solex (or some random chain of events at least) so Webcon are now the geniune, which would explain the Weber baggy in your kit?

That is an awesome price, my Volvo kit for a Solex 28/34 had an RRP of 95 of the finest English beer tokens, luckily I got it when a dealer was clearing it's shelfs. For the price Webcon are charging, I might well get one to put in the spares pile if they get them back in stock (which... if I am right with the above, you'd hope they would).

I think you're right Chris - and certainly Webcon had a Solex 28/34 kit in stock when I contacted them earlier this week. (so far the only place I have found with one).

What has suprised me is the difference in price buying the Weber 32DIR Webcon kit direct from them at £43.47 + p&p + vat and exactly the same kit from one of their "agents" (Fast Roadcars) at £23.70 delivered!! - Half the price.

I spoke to "Anthony" at Fast Roadcars this morning and he currently has 4 more 32DIR kits on the shelf.

I'm keeping digging and hope I can find a source of kits for all 300 carb variants.

The kit for my B172 arrived today from Webcon. I must admit the guy i spoke to was really helpful.

Unfortunately the kit didn't come with any instructions, and as I'm still new to tinkering with engines i always prefer some sort of guidance.

Mac have you got anything that might be useful for reference.

Afternoon Carl,

I'm in the middle of a "how to" guide for the Weber on the B14 - if you can give me a day or two I'll run up a set of instructions for the Solex on the B172 as well - probably need until the w/end if that's ok.

I'll get back to you as soon as is done.

In the meantime " Haynes" is not too bad and if you have access to VADIS you will find a workshop section covering the 28/34 on the '91' 440 if you dig deeply enough. (very, very similar on the 400s).

Cheers Mac.

I've already had a look through the engine green book and understand part of the process. What i think i need to do is identify all the bits before i start, as i think that will make me feel a bit more comfortable with my first carb strip and reassemble.

If anyone's interested, bellow are a few pic's of what came in the kit

Excellent thread, guys...in for the updates ;)

I bought a pair of rebuild kits for my Solex ADDHE C40s a couple of years ago....although sadly the rebuilt kit was for a non-'C' version, so some of the parts didn't fit. sm56
