Now we've heard lots about the B19 R-Sport tuning kit (mainly because I have one!), but has anyone ever seen a B14 one? I'll post pictures & info if no-one comes up with the goods within a few days
cheers

Not sure about all B14s but the earlier ones had a Viscious Coupled fan which ran whenever the engine was running driven by a belt. This uses up power, as it does on the 360s!

right i see so because the engines not running the fan it frees up some power for the engine
is that right?

the standard fan mounted on the front pully of some models causes drag on the engine therefore reducing power and is permanently turning (unless viscous controlled )so cooling the engine when its not hot. by fitting the electric fan and removing the engine driven one the engine is only being cooled when it needs to be(thermal switch operated ) and the electric fan causes no drag.

actually the electric fan uses leccy which means the altinator has to work harder and causes more drag.
it might cool better than the fans of the time, cos the engine might generate more heat with the extra power..

We did a load of testing on fans on a 4x4 2.8 sierra a few years ago the standard viscous fan counts for about 2 horsepower, an electric fan didnt take any power but locking up the viscous eats about 8 hp!!! maybe the electric fan would have showed a bit of a power loss if the battery was not tip top. Also it only runs when needed, so if it did use some engine power (wich it must do at some point) it's intermittant. I recon as long as you have not got a car with a solid fan or a siezed viscous, leave it alone till you need more cooling

Thats a great find!
I didn´t know that!
I´ve build my own B14 R engine.
I have just finisht the cvt to 5 speed confersion.
So i try my setup on a Dyno.
I expecting the same outcome 83 bhp.
Or else there some more thinkerin ahaid.
Tha later versions alriady have that electric fan and front excaust pipe.
B14-4e B14-4s
72 bhp
Can you please sent me a bigger pic.
I cant see the smal parts.
Maybe there some impovements for me to make.
Do you have some more specs.
Camshaft, compression ratio etc?

It was 1982 for the UK market, so yes - pre B19.
High-res images are to follow in the coming weeks - Aymat ought to be uploading them, as they're part of a brochure. No other specs I'm afraid. It literally only consists of an electric fan, a cam, and the exhaust. All the other bits are fitting parts for these main components - like gaskets and brackets / temp senders / wiring for the fan.
The major problem with VC fans is that at this age, almost all the VCs have seized

the 340 R-kit, never heard of it before.
would not say it's a small kit, in fact its all you need to get quite a bit more grunt out of it
did the head need any shaving off (higher compr) with this cam ???

That wasn't a standard part of the kit, no, although it could naturally be done and would almost certainly help.

that cam is a high lift one prob from the renault gordini which used the 1.4 but had a cross flow head and high lift cam. A friend of mine had one of these cams in his loft for ages!! the gordini puts out over 100bhp i think........
Enjoy your 300s

It could be, although I'd not put it past Volvo to grind their own - they certainly did enough for the redblock!
cheers
