@100kmh:

340cvt 1:14
340 4 speed 1:14
340 5 speed 1:16

340 1.7 (5speedd) 1:17/1:18
360 carb 1:13
360 inj 1:12

someone needs to recalculate that into miles per gallon sm4

all with fully stock engines/driveline etc. but all variables in excellent condition (good maintenance.)

my 1.4 was about 30mpg when the carb was tuned, and as low as 22 when it was wrong.

My 1.4 CVT has been at around 20 MPG (UK) during the winter, mostly city driving and occasionally having fun over the ice and snow with a rather heavy right foot. When driving on the highway consumption drops all the way down to 30 MPG. (For comparison wife's diesel powered car does about 47 MPG in daily use, and has done 55 MPG on longer trips. But that's a boring piece of s**t to drive...)

I've decided that 1.4's are only economical on longish or warm runs - from cold they seem to gobble juice. 1.7's are much the same, 2.0i's similar but of course these are a lot more powerful

from what ive heard, 2.0is are more economical than 1.4s hands down.
the amount my 1.4 drinks, is frankly frightening.
and its slow.
:(

2.0's definitely aren't more economical than 1.4's

My old 1.4 did on average about 30mpg and on longer stints 38mpg, not bad I thought considering it was a 4 speeder. My 360's however rarely did much over 32mpg, most of the time mid 20's. I drove back from Leeds a few years back at 60mph and my first GLt returned 36mpg, it was boring though

340 1.7 (5speedd) 1:17/1:18 km a liter 50 mpg

^^ mine got around 38mpg down the peage (not going slow around 80mph or more) foot was pretty much welded to the floor with 4 passengers and full full full boot. other wise it did around 32mpg pedal to floor driving town to town. like the only car i could ever get away with full throttle 99% of time lol

dude, how did you get 30 out of the 1.4??

whats wrong with mine is probably a better question mind. Think a carb service is long overdue.
This is going to be fun.

1.7's definately are the best for economy. Only problem is you end up having 25 rcpg (rotor caps per gallon) and other such things. 1.7's really arn't the best for daily's with the amount of tail chasing they require.
