Diff ratios?

Post by robinxr4i » 04 Oct 2009 03:13 pm

I've got a 360 GLT whats the final drive ratio, what different final drives are avaliable and can I fit a 1.4 or 1.7 diff to my car?

Basically I want a shorter diff!

Thanks Robin

GLT's and 1.7's have a 3.64 final drive
360 GLE's have a 3.36? Final drivers
1.4's have a 3.82 final drive

Generally speaking... earlier cars and 4 speed boxes had a variety of other different ones. Anyway, you don't want a shorter diff - you want more power :lol:
1989 - Volvo 360 GLT
1985 - Volvo 360 GLS
2008 - Volvo S60 SE Lux

M45R
b14 < '82 = 3,91:1
b14 '82-'83 = 3,82:1
b14 >'84 = 3,64:1
b19a < '82 = 3,64:1
b19a '82-'83 = 3,45:1

M47R
b14 >'83 = 3,82:1
D16 = 3,82:1
b172k (france) = 3,45:1
b172k = 3,64:1
b19a <'81 = 3,64:1
b19a '82-'83 = 3,45:1
b19a '84 = 3,36:1
b19e, glt >'83 = 3,64:1
b19e, gle '84 = 3,36:1
b200k = 3,27:1
b200ko = 3,45:1
b200eo, gle/glt 3,64:1
b200e, glt ('85) = 3,64:!
b200e, gle ('85) = 3,45:1
b200ea 3,64:1

after 1987 all b200 models 3,64:1

listed years are the modelyears, a car from late 83 can have a 84's ratio etc.

after 1987 all b200 models 3,64:1

note: diff's from M45R and M47R tranny's CANNOT be swapped; length is different and the diff of a 4spd gearbox diff will crash into the rear axle if mounted to a 5spd gearbox.
