Would have been useful to know what kind of engine or car, but looking at your other posts it would seem to be a 1.7 carb.

Fueling would be very unlikely to cause the problem you are describing. Fueling works if there is anything atall, you can basically pour petrol down the carb throat and the engine will run for a 5-10s with an empty tank and carb. Too much fuel causes black moke and too little cause i9dling problems, maybe lack of power but never popping/backfiring.

You still have some sort of ignition problem/weak spark I guess, check it is firing on all cylinders by removing each lead while it is ticking over, take precautions like wearing dry trainers and don't touch the body while holding the ignition lead. Is there oil in the disty? Are there any suppression caps present that could be faulty. Is the coil clean, take it out and clean with petrol or white spirit.

WElllll...... Had a look at her today...hmmm
FOUND that there is a small hollow pipe maybe an air breather of some sort that sticks out the side pointing up at a 45 deg anglish on the 1st butterfly area.... had fallen off....and landed accross the lower butterfly flap..WTF..so i removed this and re fitted.
Seems to drive and accelerate fine..
But its back to how she was..
Only really on right hand conrners if you try and go fastish around them she coughs and splutters...
Any clues there
Much appreiciated help
Thanks

float hights will need adjusting mate

i thought mine was cutting out due to lack of fuel, so adjusted the floats down, then found it was actually too much fuel getting in so adjusted the floats up

give the carb a wobble and if it feels loose take the air filter and air filter plate off with gasket and there are some screwdriver screws which come loose on the carb (if yours is a 1.7 that is), the screws are pretty easy to see once you remove the gasket under the air filter plate.
hope that helps as its a common one for my volvo.

cheers

Well i have cured it now.Got hold of a webber carb...Works a treat!!
Before i replaced it i had played a little with the float levels and as i was sdjusting more i think i was gettin closer to perfection.
But i didnt want to keep removing it as the poor bolts were getting abit on the slack side..
Many thanks tho ppl

Mind the Weber, they don't have things like the fuel cut solanoid and can be a pig to start 15mins after to turned it off (about a newsagents or trip to maplins worth) as all the fuel pisses through :(
