Is yours a 1.4 or 1.7 mate? AFAIK if its a 1.4 you may need a donor 1.7 for some parts. You may have to factor that into your budget...Theres the 1.8 16v unit and the 2.0 16v 'williams' unit;Id imagine its cheaper and easier to find a 1.8 16v in goodnick then a 2.0 16v but im not sure.. (im leaving now -im no expert  )

Look harder mate or go to another scrappy

£500 is in my opinion well over the odds, quite a few decent spec engines have been sold on here for a lot less than that.

You dont need to change the box man, but youll need a lot of other 340 1.7 conversion bits.
Theyve been listed 4.3 million times before, just search 16 valve conversion parts in the forum search facility in the top right hand corner man.

Work hard in school, and reap the rewards of being able to afford as many engines as you want later!

You will have a VERY hard time insuring a 16v if you're still at school, I'd imagine!

it can be done in a LHD too but there are a few problems involed wich you don't encounter in a RHD car.

the wideness of the head and injection manifold or twin carbs will hit the mastercylinder/brake servo; untill now no one i know of has actually solved that problem, one guy was busy with it but had to quit the project due to lack of time..

renault Megan K7M 1.6 8v should go in a 1.4 340 it goes in a daf 66 with smaller bay, the K4M 1.6 16v should also go in as it is the same block but has no take off fir the dizzy, K7M used a 1.2 clio dizzy on the back of the head.
