340 vario won't start after changing throttlecable HELP!!

Post by 340vario » 25 Mar 2005 07:15 pm

:340: My car wont start anymore.

I have checked fuel, carbs, sparks, fuses, everything works.

It does not turn on... it goes round, but then nothing. :(

Last week we replaced the throttlecable and after that the car started normally. I did not use the car this week, but when i tried to start it this morning it failed...

After 8 hours of checking everything again and again, i'm in throuble.
I don't know what it is...

Please HELP!!

By the way, it's about a Volvo 340 1.4 variomatic (S6), from 1988

Check all your vacuum pipes, especially the ones at the de-clutching servo, and check and clean the crank position sensor which is located on the top of the bellhousing where it connects up to the rear of the engine.

Had the same starting problem with my dad's car and it turned out to be one of the vacuum pipes to the de-clutching servo had come off. It wasn't easily noticible from viewing from the top but on closer inspection I found it just resting on it. Once this was put back on properly the car fired up straight away and has been fine since. 8)
