They are a problem tbh, a fair few Euro cars have a very similar if not the same style of one and they all are pretty knackered. Take it off the car and measure the resistance values between the pins mentioned in the green books (they will explain it better than I can manage!) if the values are inside of the book values then you've nothing to worry about and everything is working correctly but the odds of that are pretty slim
I took the 4 screws out from the electical socket, gently pulled that about an inch away from the main housing and then sprayed a huge amount of contact cleaner onto the copper tracks. That brought mine back into spec. I'm trying to find a source of a replacement for 300's atm.
