Hi all.
I will have to sell my 1987 360 GLT (3-door) as it hasn't been used for 6 months and I need to free up some space. I bought it off the original owner 18 months ago, so 1 owner for 23 years! It's done about 79,000 miles. I'll cut to the chase with the bad bits as this car now needs an enthusiast...
I bought it in May 2010 and immediately put it through an MoT. It passed with around £15 of work being required! I'd owned 5 340/360s by this point and was delighted to be behind the wheel of a great example. Much nicer than the first one I bought 10 years ago, even. I had it serviced extensively to ensure 100% reliability (oil filter / oil / air filter change, new spark plugs and leads, distributor cap, rotar arm and so on). I drove the car sparingly over the months, mainly at the weekends. In November 2010 I drove it to London through the snow and ice. I went shopping in Oxford Street and whilst parked in neighbouring Manchester Square, someone ploughed into the front of the car, causing damage to the bumper, front panel, front wing, etc. Suffice to say, I was pretty gutted. The car drove just the same, despite looking pretty different, so I continued using it until the fuel pump packed up in April. It's been parked up and unused ever since.
I recently came across a 360 GLS driver at the Goodwood Breakfast Club and mentioned I had a GLT that I ought to sell. He was very keen to buy the car so came round the next day and we agreed on a price of just £275, seeing that he wanted to get it back on the road. He said he'd call me once he had found a place to store it, but that was several weeks ago and it's all gone quiet since. I'm under pressure to move the car, so am hoping I can find an enthusiastic buyer on V3M.

Very interested in this how bad is the damage is it still drivable?

The damage is fairly extensive - although thankfully easily repairable. The bumper took the brunt of it, so doesn't look pretty! It doesn't affect the way it drives at all. Once a fuel pump is fitted, the car will be drivable again. This could be done at my house easily - I'm sure I have all the tools required and the buyer can take as long as they like doing it!
I should be able to take some pics this evening. Does anyone know how I upload pics from an iPhone? I'm not too technically-minded... :-S

Sounds like a good project, will look forward to seeing pics. Is there any damage to the inner wings etc?

Thanks for the reply look forward to seeing pics I'm a mechanic anyway so fitting fuel pump wouldn't be an issue. If it's only cosmetic damage then we should have a deal

Martyn - you sound like an ideal new owner! The most expensive part of fixing a car tends to be garage labour costs, so if you can do it yourself then that's ideal. I took some photos earlier and have finally found a way of getting them on here. Not sure why computers seem to confuse me so much, but they do!

Forgot to mention - I have every receipt and service bill from new, along with all MoT certificates and the original purchase invoice. The chap who owned it from new bought it on his retirement at the age of 65, so was about 88 when he sold it. He'd clearly treasured it and spent a fortune on its upkeep. Would be great if someone could get this classic back to its former glory again.

Thanks for the responses, all. Speedy, I'll keep you in mind should Martyn change his mind. I'm so glad that this car will be back on the road before long. It will be a rewarding project for whoever gets it.

Damage excepted, thats a damn nice car. That deserves a professional repair job if the rest of it is immaculate and rust free as it looks.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. Yes, it's a pretty nice car, really. I like buying cars that have had one owner from new as somehow they seem to be treasured in a unique way. It had been garaged from day one, so all the usual places you'd expect rust are perfect. Unusually a couple of the wheel arches are showing rust. I found out why when I got the car home - the insides of the arches had *never* been cleaned. I spent ages cleaning those out and did a spot of touching up and that helped a lot. It wouldn't take a lot to make this car spot-on again, once the damage is fixed.
