1988 360 GLT

Post by Carl » 20 Mar 2008 01:57 pm

It's time for me to get rid of Fioner once and for all. I've been putting it off for ages now, but I've finally sorted out the registration transfer so it's time to say goodbye.

Most of you should know the car by now, but just in case you dont it's a 1988 360 GLT 5 door. Previously owner by Pete Farrell, and I bought it off him in Nov 05 (I think). Since then I've done very little mileage as it's never really been used as a daily driver, but I've a bit of work to keep her running sweet. So off the top of my head he's the notable work done:
New battery
KYB gas-a-just dampers fitted to rear (along with new bushes)
New timing belt and water pump fitted last year
K&N replacement air filter fitted
Fair bit of welding also done last year for MoT
New poly tie bar and ARB bushes fitted (from Dai)
New diff cover gasket, bolts and fresh oil done last month
Gearbox oil also changed last month (now much smoother, esp when warm)
Rear brakes also stripped down, freed off, cleaned up and adjusted last month (along with new brake drums)
Also had a couple of oil/filter changes, plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm etc.

Mileage is about 116000, but I fitted a new speedo at some point which had about 7 or 8k extra miles on it, so it's only really about 108000. So I reckon I've done about 5000 miles since I bought it.

I'm also selling her with the desriable mk2 GLT alloys, ambient temp gauge and economter all fitted and working properly. These have got to be worth over £100.

She drives great, but there's a couple of niggles I'll highlight:
PAS can be a bit inefficient when cold. It really needs a complete flush through with new PAS fluid which I will do if I have time.
She was broken into last year and the o/s doors were bent out. They've been bent back into shape, but they're not quite right. Not really noticeable if you dont know it's there though.
Paintwork needs regular polishing to keep it looking pretty, but that's just a red 360 for you.
There are a few bits of rust bubbling through, but nothing too serious. I've got a spare front wing to fit at some point which will get rid of one of the worst bits.
Heated front seats dont seem to work.

On the plus side she's got MoT until the end of September, but only tax until the end of this month. Not a problem to re-tax if necessary though.

That's all I'm going to say for now, if you want any more info give me a shout. Here's a couple of pics for you:

Note the Hella grille and CVT bumper vents will be replaced with standard items. And the reg plate will be different (and not cracked).

As for the price, not really sure TBH. Let's say £500 and we'll see how we go. Feel free to make me an offer though.

Lovely car, I normally don't bother much for red GLT's but that looks lovely.

Unfortunately she's not looking quite as good at the moment. But if the weather is ok at the weekend I will try and give her a proper wash and polish to bring her back to her best!!

Been thinking tonight, and if someone really wanted the Hella grille I may consider letting that go with the car too!

No takers then? It's looking like the Ebay route may be taken, which isn't really what I wanted to do.

Forgot to say if anyone on here buys it I'll chuck in whatever spares I've got left. Not many but off the top of my head I think I have:
2 mk3 GLT alloys and tyres
1 steel wheel and good tyre
Alternator
PAS pump
Dizzy cap
The original fog light housings and wiring (with cracked lenses)
New clutch kit (no bearing though)
Cone filter
And probably a few other little bits and bobs.

Nice looking 360 that, definately interested carl.
only prob is i live in derby, and i believe your in southampton?

Is there any way we could meet somewhere in the middle?
I'd bring cash with me, and if everything is fine would take her off your hands then and there.

im off work this week so could travel anytime, or at the weekend.

Dont get on the forum much so drop me a call or a text,

Luke, just texted you mate, but will put the details up here too in case it's useful to anyone else....

I'm still waiting for the new V5 to turn up from the DVLA with the new reg number on it, so can't do much until that arrives. Was hoping it would be here today, but no such luck.

I've got a busy few weeks at the moment, but towards the end of April I may be able to deliver the car up to Peterborough if that's of any use to you (or anyone else). Dont think that's too far from Derby? Only problem is that the tax runs out next week, so it would need re-taxing.

Spent all afternoon polishing and tidying up Fioner, and I'm very pleased with the results. So here's how she looks now, complete with her new identity:

Carl, Fioner looks great, good work indeed, it might inspire me to get mine up to scratch! Fioner really looks odd with her new identity! Is she now FIB SUPO or FIBS UPO or FUPO or forever going to be Fioner!?

Good luck with the sale mate, I hope she goes to a good home!
