I think all daf 46's were built under volvo or at least most of them. I do not think they made any changes at all it was just the cheep entry level car and stayed that way that is why it was not badged as a Volvo, the air cooled twin was a little low rent.
The manual sounds like a nice thing to have I may have to contact you to look in it when i come up against a problem i am having trouble sorting.
any want a volvo 66? on ebay
All 46's were built under Volvo ownership, yet were sold as a DAF - it never got all those nice safety additions the 66 received after being rebadged as a Volvo, such as the seats with headrests (like those in the bigger 240-series) and protection beams in the doors to offer more side impact protection.
That one-belt arrangement was described by DAF chief engineer Van den Brugghen as sufficient because the power produced by the two cilinder engine could be handled by just one belt. The 46's predecessor, the 44 had two belts like all other Dafs because it lacked a differential, and as such needed a belt for each rear wheel. The DeDion rear axle, as fitted on the 46 and 66 models as well as the 300-series, has an integrated diff, making it possible to fit 'half a Variomatic' to the 46.
