Mac, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss as well mate. I was wondering how things were going and how life was treating you and your family. I can imagine you've far more important things going on, and I'm sure everyone will appreciate this and bear with you. I need to sort how many I actually need mate and I'll let you know when things are a little less hectic for you.

All the best.

Hi all, - yes I'm still around (immersed in probate and inheritance tax at the mo).

Most of you know that I am able to supply diff.gaskets and most of you know I have had other things to deal with of late.

During this time I have endevoured to fulfill any orders placed and I have been quite happy to send gaskets out and sort payment later (certainly for regulars of V3M). In future no gaskets will be sent out until payment has been received and is irrevokeably in my account - if anyone doesn't want to pay upfront - don't order !!

The reason for this is:-

5th.February, a well known regular (whom I will not name at present) enquired about a number of gaskets asking for costs etc. I replied same day.

7th.February, an order was placed - "1st.class please I want to do one at the weekend" Gaskets were in the post at 15.52 that afternoon.

10th.February, customer acknowledges receipt, very pleased, asks how I want paying. Same day I reply "cheque" and give name/address.

4th.March, no sign of cheque, I e-mail customer.

7th.March, "sorry, I've kind of overlooked it, I'll sort it tonight".

16th.March, still no sign of cheque.

I may well be doing the customer an injustice by thinking he couldn't care less, and he may well have a perfectly good reason for not paying - but if he has it probably wouldn't hurt to tell me about. (not knowing is the main reason for not naming)

Anyway I'm pissed and will think most carefully before investing any more time/money to help in the future.

Mac, bad tempered, ready to kick the wife/cat/car/small pest who lives over the road - any order will do.

Mac, I was only thinking of you today. I hope things are bearable for you at the moment in this difficult time.

Firstly, what a great service you are offering, despite having far more important things to deal with. It's such a shame that there is always one person to spoil it for the others, ok I don't know the circumstances, but from what I know, it doesn't appear too favourable to them due to their actions. You've taken the trouble to send out the kit, it's probably fitted the their car now anjd they've not sent you the money for what ever reason, not good!

Don't let one person spoil it for everyone else Mac, I know of several people singing your praises after purchasing the gaskets from you. It's a valuable resource. We need to start looking into the other unavailable items that need fabricating or sourcing from elsewhere soon, or we are going to have a sudden need for items that aren't available.

Personally, I can't see any reason why people shouldn't be happy paying upfront, or for that matter why they haven't in the past. You're a trusted member on V3M, and I can rest assured that your not going to intentionally let anyone down. What other service would send out a gasket kit without receiving any payment upfront?

Keep up to good work Mac!

I think that name should be put out if the one who hasn't paid isn't going to give any explanation about his actions, because I personally hate people who don't do their transactions in time and make all kinds of excuses why they haven't paid yet.. And I've learned that only way to stop this is to expose them..

Hi Mac, good to see you back here, and I hope everything gets sorted out. :)

Receiving payment before dispatching is clearly the way forward, and I hope you can sort things out with the problem payer. Your gaskets will be very useful to many people out there, and you've been extremely helpful with advice while here and we don't want to loose you ;)

Hey Mac,

sorry to hear of your non-paying (so far) buyer, hopefully they'll cough up soon! As thats certainly no reward for your hard work, i'll be ordering a set in the next few months I imagine. I hope you're not dis-heartened from the initial bad experience...

Agreed with the others... The Volvo Protection Front should be sent round to unmentioned... although I hope this will spur said person into payment.

As with Steve, as you know I also want some, but I'm not desperate and have been waiting until you are back on the forums a bit more before I hassle you!

Take care dude

Echo all of the above posters, pay up personage, or face being named and shamed and you just might end up not getting that vital piece of help you were after one day.

Bl**dy irritating when one person spoils it for everybody else. IMO its one of the worst things to do; to get things and then to procrastinate about paying for them. We're a friendly forum and it seems that someone has abused that spirit.

Be reassured - You most certainly did Sven.

A quick comment to those who favour the "name and shame" route - under most circumstances I would agree but I think this is most probably a "one off" and nothing would be gained by alienating a "regular" for the sake of a uncharacteristic delay in paying. I'm sure I'll get paid eventually.

If someone is a persistant offender they should be named certainly - but I doubt a persistant offender would be a regular here anyway. I've got my "laid back" programming working again - so be cool!

Not had any feedback from any kits fitted yet so I assume all is well ?? For those who have tried them - let me know how y'find them.

Mac.

Good to hear from you again Mac. I was aware that you were absent with good reason, so I haven't been in touch...but don't take that to mean we've not missed you. Quite a few of my elderly relatives and neighbours have died in recent years, so I'm well aware of just how complex, time consuming, and stressful the process can be.

I'd like to order three kits, in due course. No hurry!

Whoever it is...pay up...or we'll tell Andy that you've got his green books... sm56 sm56 sm56

I'm impressed with my gasket Mac. As far as I can see there's been no leakage and I've used the car a fair bit since putting it on (well probably only a 500 odd miles TBH, but that's a lot compared to normal!)

At some point I'll probably order a whole kit so I've got a spare gasket, and also some new bolts to go on. But that can wait a bit yet.
