ANOTHER car for Pete?!
It's hopefully becoming something very similar to that... It should have some useful lumps on it.

That's actually a damn good idea about the emergency car, but the problems start with who pays, who gets the use of, insurance, storage, then taxing and MOTing and keeping it road worthy. But it could help people out. As Chris says, this car may be saved yet.

G reg 360 GLT, G reg 340 GL Variomatic, plus many more..........
Well I went to collect it today with the intention of towing it if we couldn't get it going.
It turns out, after a GOOD bit of head scratching, fruitless cranking and testing we finally got it to run, rough as hell only just going on full throttle, and then after about 5 minutes gradually clearing. it runs not too badly.
In terms of work needed to make it pass an MOT, the exhaust blows badly, so will need repairing. There's also a very worrying patch of bubbling on the sill near the rear nearside jack point.
Obviously we haven't looked under the car to see any horror areas yet. Will do that over the weekend.
More info to follow.
Big thanks go out to Pete, cos without his help I would have run out of ideas re: the engine.
Oh: there has to be a 'Foggy' style pic:
