I will have quite a few worn ones available in due course, as I have at least two sets to replace, plus whatever I have on spare struts. If it helps reproduction ones to appear, I'm happy to make them available. Exactly when I have them in my hands is another question...

The manufacturer is working on a numbersset for them.
Idea is to re-use the metal parts, except for the bush, as these are EXPENSIVE to reproduce.
Once I am approaching the 60 I'll be getting final numbers. (Will have to become a part exchange item.

60 isn't too many, only 30 cars to raid.
So every one else with really lousy top mounts....

VM, I have some new topmounts, I've been keeping them stashed but looks like I'm going to be heading in a different direction.

For the sake of reproducing I might be able to part with them, but I can't promise (i.e., if I actually do need them sort of thing...) I'll leave it in your mind incase you need a new set and don't know of any.

Maybe interested in the front struts if you have any/arnt rusted that bad

SJ - The car is now on the trailer ready to go to the scrap yard first thing tomorrow, and I ran out of time and inclination to remove the front suspension. However, there are a few struts in my unit, including a pair which would be perfect for fitting new spring seats to (one has collapsed, and I bet the other is close behind). They're available quite cheaply. I'd be happy to part with those for very little money...

4 speed or 5 speed? I have a B14 5-speed box with a worn input shaft bearing, but the diff will be AOK.

I can post, but it's not the easiest item. A lot easier than a complete box, I suppose! Where are you located? You never know...I might be passing!

I have no reference point for value...I've only ever given them away as trades for other items. Complete boxes tend to go for £50 or so, so I guess £25 or so for a diff?

I believe that'll be the type that sits in the corner of the window, rather than on the door itself?

Do you need the glass, or the whole thing? Manual, I presume? Is it remote (i.e. adjustment handle inside the car), or a push-the-glass-with-your-fingers job?

I'm sure I have one...

Yarh sorta in the corner of the window, its a '84 360gls, got like a plastic casing, little handle inside the car to move the mirror. only after the glass mirror case and mechanism are fine. someone hit it when it was parked up and it took the glass out and smashed it. drivers side yeah! let me know how the hunt goes

(why destroy new ones for internal metal bits if one can take these from the old ones?)

Fully agree about destroying news, it was just incase you didn't have any! Will keep an eye out for old ones for you.

I'm sure I'm asking a stupid question here, but would it be too hard to have new metal parts made? Are they special in some way? We have reasonable fabrication skills dotted around here, but perhaps we can help? I guess if the parts are dealt with on an exchange basis, it's not a problem to use the original ones anyway.

Out of interest, which design are you looking at reproducing? I presume the late type? (I'm not sure of the years, but my 86 car (and all newer ones) had the late type, while the 81 car had the early type. Not checked the 84 GLT recently enough to be sure which it has). I'm not sure of what the difference actually is, other than that they look different. I'm sure they're all essentially the same, and you can use either style in any age of car.

I am looking to do it on a part exchange basis, the metal bits inside are shaped in such a way that reproducing these (they greatly influence the set up of the vehicle if not correct) would make this particular project rather expensive looking at the small numbers I can expect to sell over time.

James, that is a really good question. I am currently looking at the later ones as I was (and still am) assuming that these are interchangeable with the earlier ones. Have you ever measured the two?
