Carb or injection to start with?

I dyno'd 140bhp on a stock exhaust with 40s (with 32mm chokes) and a "K" cam (270 degree) with a stock exhaust. The butt dyno (since I've pulled half the exhaust off) says it's worth a fair bit of power. It was a carb model to start with, so ~101bhp.

Injection cars have a hotter "A" cam (260 degree?), and make ~111bhp (depending on the year). Leaving the stock cam in and fitting 45s should see you to around the same power (140)...maybe a touch more? Depends on how much of a hold-up the exhaust really is...it might be more of a problem than the carbs.

I believe a 360 3dr is about 1050kg, depending on spec. 5drs are about 1150kg...again, depending on how many goodies are fitted.

Looks like I got those numbers wrong, by the way. 3drs aren't that much lighter at all. 3dr carb 360 is about 1050kg. 5dr carb is about 1075kg. Injection 5dr is about 1130kg. I'm surprised the injection gear is that heavy!

cheers

It's not, when people were worried about 300 curb weights it was only the injection that was getting the toys.

But the early DL's were lucky if people spec'd the optional steering wheel and glass for the windows!

Early DL's were better specced than late, Chris... my 82 DL had opening rear windows and plusher seats than a late DL with non opening windows and plastic backed seats :P
