GOOD NEWS & BAD NEWS!

Hi Guys. As the subject title says I have good news and bad news. First the good, I am going to be a Dad again in September

which I am really chuffed about!!
Bad news is that the GLT is gonna have to go I cant afford to run two cars anymore cause I gotta move house an stuff and just don t have the time to give to give her the tlc she needs and deserves. She has 4 months tax and is mot d til June she has 103k on the clock starts 1st time every time and runs like a dream, She s a 1988 'E' reg. Has rust on the rear doors where most of them do but apart from that she looks pretty damn good . She does however need the final drive gasket replacing asshes leaking oil from there.
The princely sum I am asking for this lovely machine from my fellow 300maniacs is a donation to a local hospice in Cambridge of as much cool hard cash as ya feel like givin' If 340 Nate is still on the lookout for a car this could be the one!! let me know if your interested!
To be honest guys I just want her to go to a good home if you cant afford a donation she is free of charge to any member of this site and Ill throw in a Haynes manual for good measure. Will be sad to see her go

That's a shame about the car mate, but congratulations on the Baby! Hopefully someone who appreciates the car will get it.

Congratulations!
I am gonna be a dad in August so I feel tha same joy!
To bad you have to let your GLT go. The hospital donation thing is a very honorable idea!

hi geez, congratulations on the baby mate, sorry the car has to go dude, i am looking for a car still, could you tell me what colour it is and how much a final drive gasket would cost, i am very skint so i cant afford any expensive repairs and i dont really like making a offer for the car, would 100 be ok?, i would be able to give more in good time if 100 isnt good enough & ive gotta talk to my bro about the car aswell since he will be the only one able to pick it up.
thanks
Nate

Hi Nate don t know of hand at mo how much the gasket will cost . when I replaced the exhaust manifold gasket it was under £20 for the kit so this should nt be any more than that. I should be able to get hold of it at cost so Ill get one for ya. 100 is plenty mate and if your struggling to afford that then you don t need to give that much like I said its a donation.
The gasket looks like a reasonably straight forward job if you have a set of ramps to lift the back end up. If you re around over the weekend come and have a look at it before you decide, if you can get here. Im in Harston . just off junction 11 on the m11.
If you do want her I can keep her here for a while if picking her ups a problem and like I said before shes not in absolute perfect condition but shes a lot better than a lot of the ones you ll see and she ll start and drive no worries Oh and by the way she s a silver metallic 5 dr.

Don't forget you need to fill the final drive up with oil again, and as some of the chaps have said the cover plate may need to be replaced. I know Pettaw has done the job, so maybe he can comment on the total cost? It won't be huge, and certainly shouldn't put you off what sounds like a decent car!
cheers
James

Good point Foggy! I have already bought the oil to go in the final drive and did fully intend to do the job myself but obviously priorities have changed quite a bit so the car will come with the oil and a Haynes manual and for a donation to the hospice I will supply the gasket as well. If I get the chance to do the job here I will but cant promise anything. Cheers, Geez.

Geez you forgot to mention the most important selling point of the car , The v3m rear window sticker,
congrats on the news , hope the baby grows up and sees the light (becomes a little gooner ) coz bringing up a kiddy to support spurs is like child abuse LOL ,
I still think you should sell whatever your other caris and keep the volvo (tell the wife theres nothing safer on the road than a volvo

The job's easy enough. The dealer may have difficulty finding the part no but I've got the old bills somewhere so I'll look it up if any probs. Its an easy enough job. One thing though, get the filler plug out before you remove the cover. Its a real pig of a job cos it'll be tight and seized on.
Cost of parts was about 25quid.

Yep, guessed right! Mind you you could get it out if you had a decent bench vice to grip it into. I don't however

ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE OF THAT MATE! Bringin up a kid as a Spurs fan teaches them to remain sane in the face of constant disappointment lol and lookin at recent form the tide is turning in North London. As for trying to keep the Volvo instead of my other one I did kinda feel the water but got burnt pretty quick! (pregnancy hormones an all that)
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!!!!!
