Breaking 340 saloon

I'm breaking an 87 (E reg) saloon

Dark blue with a grey interior.

The interior is on the usable but a bit tatty, the seats aren't sagged or ripped (drivers has lost lumbar adjustment knob). Bootlid is bent.

It has an original radio, this was working fine before I removed the battery, but I can't find the security code with any of the paperwork, I don't know if it possible to get round this.

I'm keeping the front end parts, engine, prop, gearbox, exhaust, wheels and suspension.

Let me know if you're interested in anything else, needs to go fairly quickly.

Shell (non-rolling) with V5 free to anyone who can pick it up in a couple of weeks time.

Do you have the accelerator cable? Also I need the corrugated air tube that goes from the bottom of the air filter housing to the exhaust manifold, and there is a little 90 degree rubber tube that goes onto the back of the air blower. (The first is the important one, the other two would be useful.

Best wishes

Joe Harding

I'm in Worcester, will take the front beam off tomorrow, you could collect it from me from Oxford on a weekday evening if that would be easier. I'm fairly certain that the 1.4 and 1.7 has the same beam, isn't an '84 car a Mk3?

There's not much usable on it really, none of it is that badly gone but it is showing rust bubbles under the rear arches, front bodywork is all still there but featuring structural paint.

How much for the handbrake cable and the speedo cable? Also are the driveshafts for sale? If so, how much? I live in Leicester and could collect.

Sorry for the slow response, the car is now pretty much stripped and hope to finish this weekend, hopefully covering everybody's questions:

Electric windows - all present, all working although the windows were a bit slow, probably due to resistance from broken window weather strips

Central locking - worked when I bought the car, didn't work when I picked it up a week or so later, the front doors actuators were soaking wet though so might dry out

Saloon boot trim - boot carpet/boot lining pieces/parcel shelf carpet and plastic insert with carpet (cracked corner of insert piece) - £5

Roof lining - de-drifto your Volvo! Had a small tear under the RL grab handle. Surprisingly easy to fit/remove, mostly push/spring fit only tricky bit is back window, could probably trim it down and stick it down to avoid having to take the rear window rubber out. Looks like it could probably be cut down to fit a hatchback. I also have the sound deadening material that is stuck to the roof. - £5

Rear window - £5

Rear seat - £5 (does not fit hatchback)

Right rear door - good condition, with grey door card, needs a clean up and ideally a new window weather/scrapper strip. Has a central locking actuator (no idea if it works) in it and wire that runs under carpet to connector in the corner of the dash (the door still locks normally so could be used on car without central locking). The door is currently complete, the bottom two plastic sliding tags on the door card are missing so the bottom of the doorcard isn't held down, either use as it is or resuse your current ones/sticky pads to fix it. The rear doors simply bolt on, all you need to do is remove the B pillar trim (no faffing about with tapered pins like the fronts!). - £15 complete or £5 stripped

I think the left door is the same story but haven't removed/had a look at it yet

Saloon boot lid - bent and scratched, but still fits and closes, doesn't look too bad on the car FREE

Saloon boot lock - good lock with key (does not fit hatchback) - £5

Would sell but at a price (rather keep as spares!):
Rear bumper - a bit tatty
Rear lights
Most of the interior/trim including complete carpet
Wiper motor
Volvo 608 radio (worked when I got the car, found a code written on the unit after I removed it but have not tested it!)

Keeping/not sale-able:
Handbrake cable
Speedo cable
Driveshafts
Front doors (parts/trim available)

Can you do me a favour and hold onto the rear window if you don't sell it?
