I only recently bought this little volvo as it came up local and thought it would be cool with a renault 5 turbo engine in sliding round etc but i have come to realise that it is far too clean and original for me to start pulling it to bits to be wrecked. If you want to do that its totally up to you but i cant bring myself to do it. Would be nice to see it go to a volvo fan who will cherish it and look after it as it is though but thats not up to me.
Its only done 48,000 miles from new, still on original dealer plates, stickers, tax disc holder and keyring! Still have all the little booklets it came with from new and has been kept fully services at the dealer it came from with stamps. Only just recently had a service on 42k i believe.
It is a fantastic running and driving car and it really really does drive like brand new, even the heated seats work! All original inside and spotless, never smoked in, no damaged trim, glovebox looks to have never had anything in it. Absolutely everything works on it and hasnt been fiddled with in any way. All original glass and stickers. Even the cool "this volvo runs on unleaded" in the back window near the filler cap and the manual includes a guide to what volvos were safe and ready for unleaded at the time. Also has the old RAC key in the folder for the roadside boxes you used to see!
Underneath is absolutely spotless sills, floorpan, arches etc look as they came out the factory. Some areas of slightly faded paint but still VERY VERY shiney for such an old red car. Unfortunately has been kept under a tree at some point though and has a couple of patches on the roof where the sap has eaten through the paint but could easily have the roof cleaned up and painted and it would almost be show worthy. Again a few little "sap spots" on other parts of the car but these havent eaten through and will buff out no worries im 100% confident of that and if i didnt work full time i would have done it myself.
Its an honest little 1.4 with a weber twin choke carb coupled to the 5 speed gearbox in the rear of the car for great handling. Gets along very nicely and isnt at all slow can keep up with modern traffic no problems and would get into naughty speeds im sure.
All original steel wheels with caps and all good tyres.
Really not sure what else to say about it really. I genuinely dont think it would take much work to get it to museam/show quality. Little time on the body and you would be there. Brakes are very sharp as is clutch.
