My valver for sale

Post by Speedy88 » 05 Oct 2011 08:42 pm

Well well, some of you might already know this. Some maybe not. Not doing a write up currently because, well, the market sucks at the moment. Basically I'm putting a feeler out to see if anyone would be interested in buying.

In brief:

Good:
F7R engine - no bodging and built by Adam. Running currently on Chrischip but can supply the thirstier map. Engine done 55k since rebuild.
Good tyres all round. Front 2 almost new.
Straight through stainless exhaust professionally installed.
12 Months MOT
Goes like shit off a shovel and will thrash anything without a turbo/driven by numptys
Very reliable, starts first time, every day. Woot for injection!
Sounds freaking awesome.

Bad:
Drinks a little oil, but hasn't gotten worse over the past year/20k. Appears to be valve seals. Approx 2 top-ups between oil changes.
Needs a new battery, will hold charge but sometimes struggles to start.

With the fuel map:
Stalls in traffic when very hot - but this is all down to the custom map. Can supply standard map which it will run better on.
Pinks if not driven correctly (full throttle at 1.5k, going up a hill). More exaggerated when hot.
But in a 30 minute commute I don't see it ever get this hot.
Put up with these and you'll see 30mpg in town, 40mpg on a run.

I'm selling because I'm just a little bored, want something new and exciting. And a lot bigger. Always seem to be moving house these days... I'll probably be begging for it back in a few months time!

The car comes as it looks here, wheels and all. No price yet (PLZ DON'T BAN) as I'm really not certain what it's worth.

Failing selling on here, I'm waiting for a decent replacement car to come up. When that happens I'll put it on DW, RR and then ebay.

And to those worrying that I'll be leaving, I'll defiantly stick around V3M for the community. Plus there's at least an 85% chance I'll be buying a Volvo 340pw

Yeah speedys the last person I thought who would be selling. also like VND says D5, incredible engine.
S60 d5 is a very underated car in my eyes, its just shame the steering lock is so poor because they handle and go superb and your getting mega mpg.
Sorry for thread jack

I'll definitely get a 300 series again. My problem is that it's basically my second ever car, and there's a whole mental list that I want to get through before I've got commitments, and possibly no longer live in Europe. The other problem is size, I need something I can both lug parts around in and sleep in. It's a great car, yes and I love it too, yes. But I've toyed with the idea of selling it for about 6 months now so I think it's time to move on.

Another reason is I tend to do quite a lot of motorway miles, something that revs lower would be better.

Currently in the mindset that I want a 240 again but 940s appeal in the fact that they are basically the same and have turbos. Amazons are cool but a little out of my price range right now. Saab 90/900 turbos are on the list but lack that "Volvo thing".

I'm saying all this but I'll be very reluctant to sell it for under par. Which probably is very likely right now, so I might be forced to keep it

You know my thoughts on you selling it dude.

How about another thought... you'd have to toss up bored vs carrying big stuff though.

Get a hatch shell and bring it down. We'll swap the valver into that. Hatches are stunningly awesome for lugging compared to saloons, today I fitted an entire 360 into Fake (don't ask...) with the torque tube completely assembled in one piece.

But saloons are just so much nicer!

I've even thought about converting the saloon to something more spacious (easy option being take the rear seat out). But there's other things too that wouldn't work in mine, such as fitting a massive LPG tank in the back. Big estate has this option as well as being able to lug stuff/still able to sleep in.

300s are near on the perfect car, but I still want to experience something different.

Sorry to hear you're selling up dude... food for thought though, a 940 2.3 turbo at 12psi will equal a 340 valver's 1/4 mile time 8)

PM'd you both.

I think I've decided the price should be £950 without the wheels, or £1200 with them. If you decide to get it without the wheels I'll supply some standard steels with tyres for free which will get you on your way. 1 tyre is borderline legal though, so I'd replace that pretty soon.

Sounds cheap at that, but its your car dude.
Is it the only known valver saloon?

Probly worth mentioning it holds the Santa Pod normally aspirated world record for a 300.

Or did I make that bit up?
