Buy yourself one of these

There insurance group 2 compared to the insurance group 7 of the volvo's. They are extremely cheap to and easy to run/fix, if you ever need to. And if were to lower it, put some wheels on it you would probably double your money if you were to sell it on. I had one, there great little cars even though i only moved it around, its still fun to drive
And you could stick the volvo on the drive, or in a garage for a year until you get your 1yr ncb under your belt, and then get it back out again? I love them, and when i take my volvo off the road for the "transformation" i'll definately buy another one to run around in
- Just an idea? You could call it a "temporary investment"
Thomas.............

Front wheel drive unfortunately. But there still epic little cars =D I know he wants RWD, but if did it like that, then he would be able to keep the volvo, and just use the fez as a run around

If you have a 1.7 out of a 480 turbo (not sure if its the same system as the 440turbo) you only need an ECU, i believe there called "richmod" ecu's - designed by a gezzer on one of the 480 forums. Plug it in and instant PROPSHAFT FAILURE
Fixed that for you mate.
