Just thought I'd update this post, cause I couldn't find anything on the interior light delay relay (E12) in the forum previously ...

I've just fitted a relay from a GLT for "delayed lights" to my GLi - the location is just behind the instrument panel (LHD, so possibly behind the glovebox on RHD cars). Access is easy, just remove the facia panel underneath - the fitting (socket?) for the relay was already there with a green wire just bridging it.

That's very interesting! Good work on letting everyone know! It's something that I didn't think would bother me too much not having it on my 340. However I tend to find myself either opening the door and leaving it open when I get somewhere to find things in the dark, or forgetting to switch the light off after turning it on manually.

If it's that simple then I'll remember to do it when I get to removing the relay from one of my 360 GLT's I've got to break up.

Right...so we're looking for a relay socket with a green bridging wire...sounds easy :)

cheers

Me too - I tend to leave the door open when looking for the keyhole for the ignition key. Still can't find it in the dark, even after all this time...

Well it was on mine :) Here's a picture of the relay socket as it was before I stuck the relay in (taken through the instrument panel surround - in the right of the picture you can see the speedo cable, I unfortunately damaged the bayonet connector while removing it from the back of the instrument panel)

... and here's the relay you'd need:

Indeed, pictures help a great deal! I shall see what I find, I'm imaginging it's on the steering column in a RHD 300 as well. On the donor GLT, was the relay clipped onto one of the brackets on the steering column? I'll have to have a look on my 340, and compare what's on my 360.

I can't be 100% sure because I bought the relays seperately and didn't remove them myself, however the delay relay was definitely clipped to something as there's still part of the broken-off clip embedded in the relay housing (see top of the relay picture). Sounds feasible ...

Ah yes, I see that now, it looks like the right sort of thickness for the metal clips, same colour. I'll check them out when I get a few minutes. That reminds me, the GLT kick panel below the steering column if off at the moment as I had to entice the indicator flasher relay into working for the MOT after it had stood for a while!

I had to do the same there Pete. Seems to be a common problem after sitting!
