Re: Early 343 spares Breaking
Thanks for the offer Adam but no, I'll give it a miss. The journey would only be worth it for me (fuel, ferry etc.) if there were near-perfect black seats inside that 343
Cheers

Re: Early 343 spares Breaking
Just returned, main target was the two doors as mine are flapping about (door skins parted from rusted frame at bottom), and valance. Not the outer but the INNER part. Mine had gone, and I mean gone, wait till you see the pictures. These doors will save me a lot of work as I was going to try to repair the originals by welding on parts from others (to keep the fixing for the internal trim the same). Other parts have come home with me too!
The front seats had gone (not sure if sold?). I wasn't there for interior parts. As Adam said, all blue anyway.
I know what you mean about faded black Tom, mine are the same, I'm just glad they are not worn through!
I didn't get the screen as I ran out of time. I'm aiming to return to get it when I've had a practice run at getting the one out of a car here (which is scrap due to scratches).
I've not taken anything mechanical. I'll update my Mk1 thread as I've started work and thsese parts will encourage me to get on!
Sorry I didn't see you post before I left this morning Tom, was going to take camera anyway but left it behind in the rush Only had crappy fuzzy old phone camera.

Re: Early 343 spares Breaking
IF you can still get new rubbers just cut the screen out to save any risk of damage.

Re: Early 343 spares Breaking
Good idea, thanks, will consider that. I think I purchased a new one a while ago, better check that I didn't imagine it though, I know I saw it at the windsceen place!
By the way, this car GUK was last on the road in 2007 (tax disc), pity it ended up like this, it wasn't in too bad a shape. But rusty arches and inner arches. Didn't have a really look underneath at sills though.
By the way, there very friendly at the yard, moved the car outside into a quiet corner for me!

Re: Early 343 spares Breaking
I've just contacted Chris Moore about this (and a few other bits).
Hopefully I'll get a positive response soon.

Never failed in getting a windscreen, side or back window out intact and unbroken with a good ol' size 9 pressing it out from the corner. Done at least two dozen no probs.

I'm hoping to go back for the screen as mine has a nasty wiper scratch in it, maybe Friday 3rd May so can get the light and send it over if you want?thebear54 wrote:I've just contacted Chris Moore about this (and a few other bits).

Re: Early 343 spares Breaking
Exactly. Unscrew the retaining clips, then lie on a seat (haha...oops!), and push it out from the top with your feet. Have an assistant handy to stop it flipping over and smashing on the bonnet! No damage to anything if you're careful. That's how my 343 screen came out when it was being given TLC, and it went back in with the old rubber, trim, etc.macplaxton wrote:Never failed in getting a windscreen, side or back window out intact and unbroken with a good ol' size 9 pressing it out from the corner. Cheers M8....Chris has notified me that the light, as well as an ash tray assembly, is available for me (both for 18.00 GBP). If that can be arranged I would be most grateful.Hell Driver wrote:I'm hoping to go back for the screen as mine has a nasty wiper scratch in it, maybe Friday 3rd May so can get the light and send it over if you want?thebear54 wrote:I've just contacted Chris Moore about this (and a few other bits).

Re: Early 343 spares Breaking
John - I'd double check to see if the ash tray fits in your car. IIRC your dash has a wide ashtray, the 79-on cars have narrow ones, with ciggy lighter and fan switches on either side.

Ok....let's NOT take a chance on the ash tray assembly. Thanks for the tip.
Hell Driver....
If and when you go over if you would not mind just picking up the Boot lamp for me and we can arrange to get it here.
Many thanks.

Spoke with Chris this AM and told him you would be there shortly to collect the boot light (only 8.00 GBP) for me. Informed him that "HellDriver" would be my courier.
