Does anybody want?

I've suffered a dose of realism!
Time, space and uncertain health leads me to accept that it is foolish of me to believe that I can/will fully restore both of my 300s - therefore I will concentrate on the Redline and my parts research/production.

Surplus to requirements is one excellent 3door shell with no corrosion, with all glass, interior (DL), doors, bonnet and tailgate. Has M45R and diff. Note - this is not a rolling shell and has no front axle/suspension Currently SORN'd
Also available is a B14.4E (bare engine) with 56k genuine mls.

I am open to realistic offers.

Mac.

Mac,

I can see your problem, but is there another way out? No, no, I don't mean weighing it in!

What's missing/still needs to be done?

What you need is a load of helping hands to re-assemble it to get it mobilised and down the pits for a ticket. So the challenge is to make arrangements for around 6 competent bods to descend on the same weekend and chuck spanners at it, whilst you supervise the BBQ and distribute the beers.

Now I can't volunteer my services yet as I still haven't put that Pug back on the road.

Anyway, good luck with the sale.

Agreed. We need to pick a weekend and invade mac towers and put the 343 back together. Assuming Her Highness will allow us to camp on the lawn we'll have plenty of time to get it to an MOT'able state allowing it to be sold on to a collector.

The idea has merit - but I was rather thinking along the lines of putting the "bits into store" for future use and passing the shell on to somebody else for use in a project.

As we all have seen recently it's not that easy to actually sell a 300 these days - I have it on excellent authority that we have too many of them! Rather than put in a lot of work and then get "nothing" for it I'd be quite happy to save what is usefull for the Redline and pass the shell on "for nothing". That way I get to use all the bits I've powder coated etc. One thing I don't want to do is to put it back together with all the goodies and let it go for 50 quid! - when many of said goodies will happily get used on the 1.7 Being totally honest had I not been "left" the DL it is not a version I would have chosen to buy (basic, 4speed, etc.)

Thoughts?

Mac.

Use the weekend to put all the shiny powder coated stuff on the Redline and transfer the 'ordinary' stuff from the Redline to the 343. Then you get the Redline with all the shiny bits and a boggo 343 to sell. If you then don't get much for it it doesn't really matter.

Don't put the bits 'in store' - you'll never need them (the redline will already be fully refurbished??) and they'll take up valuable space!

Mac

I must caveat this post with the fact that for various reasons I'm definitely not able to give a home to your car, not least because of lack of space and a strong desire to fill what remaining space I have with a '77, but also because I'm an early-model devotee, and the '86 onwards cars just don't do it for me.

However, as I already own two red 343 DLs which happen to be what I call phase 1 and phase 2 respectively (and please don't shout at me Rich and RJ, I am a total convert to the model year way of reference), I had always intended to get a line-up at a show of them alongside your red phase 3 to show the evolution through the years.

Anyway, Oliver and I are more than happy to offer our services (to be expertly guided by you!) for a day or two, as it is more than owed from both of us.

I must add I'm willing to devote a weekend/3 dayer to this worthy cause once I'm concluded the Pug job. I've to venture over at some point to do something with white Volvo stranded in Essex...

I'd be willing to lend a hand *if* it's what Mac wants.

I've had a think over the weekend about taking her on, but I'm just not sure I can do it right now. I'll keep thinking, it's a lovely car.

Chuck your running gear into that shell and it'd make one hell of a car :)
