Cheers Mark :) this is a very reluctant sale but I need a road worthy 300 series in my life haha.

When I took it for its MOT the tester said how brilliant condition it is with absolutely no rot underneath and the overall condition being very good for a 30 year old car. His exact words were "I'm very impressed" so I know this is a brilliant vehicle but as I say the lure of a Volvo is too strong haha.

I got it running again yesterday, when I fitted the electric pump I got my brother to fit the pressure regulator while I made the drinks... Mistake he fitted it the wrong way around so somehow it had been getting fuel through until Saturday, so I took it off and refitted it the correct way and it runs beautifully now

No longer for sale

It has died again and have dealt with nothing but time wasters so I am keeping it and going ahead with the 2.0 16V conversion :)

THIS WILL NOT COME ON THE ATS CUPS!

retrorides.proboards.com/thread/177327/another-mk2-golf project thread here but not updated to where it stands now.

£1100 O.N.O

Comes on original steel wheels.

MOT is up 25th of July - passed last time with no advisories
Car is on SORN
V5 Present
Loads of Service History

Good Points:

1998 ABF with precut loom and deimmobilised ECU
MK2 GTi 8V gearbox
New front wishbones and Bushes
New front ARB droplinks
Fully rebuilt MK2 GTi rear beam
Good condition interior (apart from front seats have usual bolster wear and padding sticks in your back)
New handbrake cables supplied but not yet fitted
Big brakes on front (not too sure what they are from GTi or G60?)
Pretty much new rear GTi solid discs
VGC 16V radiator
MK2 GTi fuel tank fitted
New Inner CV joint on drivers side driveshaft and new boot on outer CV

Bad Points:

Bodywork is not the best nor the paint, has had several touch ups and has small dents in various places on the body
Front wings need replacing due to rust
7 slat grille is cable tied in place and has cracks in it
Rear arches have rust - new arches will be supplied £35 odd pounds new from VW Heritage
External plastics are fading, I used auto glym bumper gel on them which made them all black for about 8 months
Side trim has fallen off on the passenger side but it is with the car
Coilovers need replacing as both passenger side ones are worn out
Exhaust manifold is cracked so needs new manifold

Work to finish it off:

Bonnet needs notching to clear inlet manifold or 90 spec bonnet fitting
Engine needs wiring in either splicing the CE2 MK3 loom into the CE1 fusebox or a full CE2 conversion
Engine needs finishing off plumbing in
Rear brakes need plumbing in
9" brake servo and 22mm M/C are needed
Speedo cable needs plugging in to the back of the gauge
Fuel pump needs fitting to the tank (access through boot)
Inline fuel pump needs fitting (supplied)
Fuel lines need connecting at both ends
Handbrake cables need fitting (supplied)
Gear linkages need fitting to convert from 4 speed to 5 speed (supplied)
Exhaust manifold and full system need making

That's all I can think of atm so any questions please ask.

Will swap for a Volvo 340/360 plus cash my way

I was told 14s barely clear gti brakes yet I just randomly decided to try the 13s on and they clear the uprated discs, so this now comes on its original steel wheels so can be trailored away no faffing around with wheels... Now someone buy it so I can have a roadworthy 300!!!

It appears you are not allowed one. Oh and my dohc head kit arrived yesterday too. So the monster is starting to come together, parts wise. Why you want a 1.7? What's wrong with 360?

360s are very few and far between now so a 1.7 340 would be easier to find and easier for an F7R than a 1.4

Sweet, I had a thought earlier today actually about what are you going to do about the cert? It will be a bit of a pain wouldn't it? Let's just hope you get a friendly tester.

Yea certs gonna be an issue. Will no doubt have to upgrade the brakes, and maybe do something suspension wise, but provided fab work is done to a good standard shouldn't be too hard. If not I'll have it as a track/show car for when I launch my business.

You can get coilovers from gas for the suspension and I'm sure a couple years ago someone had swapped to BMW M3 brakes not sure how.

One of my dads mates did an engine conversion in a hilux he went to vtnz and asked about it, they said take it for a wof and what it fails on they will cert.

Twin turbo 965 right? ;)

Quite. Because ultimate sleeper. Who's gonna suspect a 965 will have a twin turbo in it? Especially over here.
