Bodykit Group Buy Part 2!

Post by foggyjames » 15 Nov 2005 02:51 am

If you were part of Part 1, read on! If not, skip to the bottom.

Well all the front valances have been delivered, and I think the new owners are happy with them. :) The quality of the finished product is very impressive (down to the part number casting being retained), and on a practical level the reproduction pieces are in better shape than my 18 year old (but 'new') genuine original.

Dave is now ready to start round two, and I believe the side skirt molds are being made this week. I've still got to drop the rear valance off, but it looks like being a faster process this time. Or to put it another way, I'll be calling round to pick up my bits, and I'm planning on getting the rest then too! :)

We've not talked about timescale or payment details yet, but I suspect we'll do a deal much like last time, whereby I'll collect the money, and I'll forward a lump sum to Dave when we're done. That will probably be linked to delivery of the bits, hopefully hurrying production somewhat!

Here's the deal...
Skirts are £80/pair
Rear valance is £80
Both together are £150

I believe Adam just wants skirts, but if Chris and Pete want to confirm their preferance...?

## NEW PEOPLE ##

Dave of DBS Motorsport is able to produce full or partial kits to order. We've not discussed pricing, but I suspect it'll be similar to that for the group buy. Feel free to post here to request more info. I'm sure Dave will be watching with interest.

cheers

It'd be rude not to, put me down for both then please! Will be getting my front valanced sprayed soon to match the car, I would wait for the rest of the kit, but I think it needs to go on! Very impressed with the quality of the front valance, good work Dave. Just out of interest, how are the side skirts fixed?

Right, everyone in...get your monies to me :) PM or MSN for details.

The skirts are fixed by rivets or screws along the top and at each end. I will post my 'blue book' installation manual on my forthcoming website.

Hmmm, ok, I'm just not sure about the rust attracting, water holding, fresh drilling/screwing/rivetting in a nice clean rust free sill. Steve, do you think any of your rust problems may have been aided by the bodykit in anyway, or appear to have started near a fixing point? I'll still be in on the group buy, but it's just a concern I wish to address.

This could not have come at a worse time for me.
I have just payed a huge sum of cash to Keith for a truckload of V300 parts so I am practically broke for the next couple of months.

Tell him to make an extra front and rear valance and I will be happy to take it from him once I have sold those parts on...

I am going to blend the new rear valance with my old front valance to make a nice low rear end with room for a double exhaust.

AFAIK it rivets into the existing holes in the top of the sill. Don't quote me though :)

Steve has one rusty sill, but also one clean one. My car hasn't had a bodykit, and is rusty on both sides! :D These skirts (unlike many) are open-based (they're just a flat face hanging down, no 'base'), so the sill itself is still open to the elements. My only concern is where it joins the sill at the top, but some seam sealer ought to do the job there if you're worried.

I might be interested if someone can send it to me via mail...

Do you have some kid of photos for the rear valance on a 1990 340, 5 doors.

Don't they do the front spoiler?

Jeroen....could you post all-round pics of your car please?

The front valance part of the buy has already been completed, but as I mentioned at the top, complete kits will be available to order once this is completed.

cheers
