Cheers Mik.

I have been looking for a 360 saloon for some time; and this looks kind of sweet.
I'll do my regular last minute bid - no point encouraging the morons to bid it up and up, I always think.

Can't figure what place a 360 has in the great scheme of your Chrissy lights display - unless you live in Buck House, and string them across the fascade like (relatively) normal people use little coloured lights :D

A quick shuftee would be welcome if you have the time/and it's no trouble, thanks for the offer.

Many thanks for the warm welcome by the way 340pw

A few things to be aware of...

1) Despite what the listing says, it doesn't have air con (at least not the rare factory system - the buttons aren't there).

2) The sunroof leaking is an easy fix. It's actually designed to leak into the 'cavity', but then the drain channels (down the windscreen pillars) take the water away. Unblock the drain channels, and your problem is solved. I WISH my 360 didn't have a sunroof. PITA all round :(

3) Mick becomes criminally insane around this time of year, rocking backwards and forwards and muttering about Christmas lights. We humour him, as he's a lovely bloke the rest of the time :)

4) If you buy that car and don't come back and tell us ALL about it, I'll...er...call the internet Police, find out where you live, and tell Mick that you've got fairly lights he can have, and tell Hugh you've got a lovely Mondeo TD for him. Welcome to, in my humble opinion, the most friendly forum on the whole of t'internet.

cheers

Hi James,

Many thanks for the welcome - I think? :D

1. I figured it probably didn't have air con, but wasn't sure as I've yet to see a 360 with it (I've led a sheltered life so shoot me).

2. Only car I ever owned with a sunroof had one of those glass tip up things; but I didn't own it long enough for it to really put my back up!

3. Mick. Now, I was going to reply to his post with the piccie of his house last Christmas - but words fail me.. . . .

4. If I'm not outbid, or suffer a PC failure, etc. I promise to let you know how the new addition to the very modest fleet and I get on. Please, please don't encourage Mick to add even more lights - I'd hate to feeleven remotely responsible for his roof landing in his lap on Christmas eve  And what the bleep is Hugh up to? I've read his waxing lyrical about Mondeos over at the VOC, and figured he'd stopped taking his meds or something - I mean, it's a FURD!

Anyhow, if I survive Hugh's wrath, I'll try to talk to you again soon - you do seem a happy bunch; free from that hateful element that seems to keep dropping on the VOC - and keep on getting removed, I've noticed - ah well, that's th'internet for you.

The problem with the sunroofs is that they generally don't work, and add a lot to the wind noise.

You're lucky - a few of us are rapidly coming to the conclusion that the saloons are significantly more refined that the hatches.

As for Hugh and Fords...I can see his motivation. If he buys a nice 300, it gets written off, and if he buys a cheap and nasty one, it breaks all the time. The poor guy is cursed! Heck, if I was spending much more time than I do on the motorway, I'd buy a diesel motorway hack, at least until I fix the things which are 'wrong' with the 300 for motorway use (mainly noise and maybe building an engine for better MPG).

Incidentally, the B200K carb engine in that 360 you're looking at is actually the most fuel efficient engine offered in the 300 series once it's warmed up! I've managed over 50mpg from mine (before I accidentally bolted the big carbs on), although that was driving like an uber-granny). I've done a shade over 45mpg at a constant 70, babying it (not booting it up hills, etc). It's also nearly as quick as an injection one, as we proved at Santa Pod.

cheers

I wrote to him before you kindly offered to take a look; so didn't ask for the address. He replied: one small dent size of a 50p in the front wing. small amount of rust less than the size of a cassette tape, not broken through the paint. everything works, etc.
I wrote for more details and his address but, like you, Mick, nothing yet.

James, 50 mpg! My Brick gets about 28 average, 33/4 on a nice steady run -but then she is a BIG girl.

What mpg are you getting in modified form?

Cheers for now.. .

Looks like it could be a tidy car - doesn't look as if the central locking works though, atleast it doesn't look like it on the passenger rear door.

Because I don't actually require loadspace, I'd definitely buy a saloon over a hatch having owned both. The saloon seems much more refined, no parcel shelf/folding seat vibrations etc. Refinement is quite impressive for a 17 year old car!

As Foggy said - sunroofs can be a pain, and the reason for it leaking is that the drain holes are blocked. It might be as simple as removing a load of dirt from the sunroof 'cavity' or *carefully* running a wire down the drain holes to clear them, I think they drain out somewhere in the inner wing area. Sunroof problems are normally not too bad to fix - the worst fact being that the panels rust... should've been bloody glass panels instead - and electric as standard!

For £50 no reserve I'd just stick a bid on it - looks tidy to me!
