Hi Folks,
just found your forum, and want to know if anybody would be interested in taking my mother-in-laws Volvo 360GLS off us. Its one owner from new, done approx 35k miles, on an A plate ('83), in a metalic blue (complete with MW/LW radio, non of this DAB rubbish!).
It hasn't been driven for the last 2 years, and we have all the previous MOT's to show how little mileage its done over the last 15 years.
To be fair, from me looking at it, its a spares only job, but one of you may think its an easy restore job. Certainly, the engine/gearbox ought to be good for somebody with that low mileage. It seems such a shame to call the scrap guys, when it might be of some use to somebody.
Its quite near to J2/J3 M5 if anybody wants to look.
let me know by e-mail -

thanks for looking

Sounds like an interesting car. I wouldn't mind a B19 engine, but then the list of things I wouldn't mind isn't short, while my drive is
What makes you think it's for spares only...bodywork? Or just the age?
Good luck with it.
cheers

J2/3 M5 - that's right near my part of Birmingham, I could easily go and check this out if anyone wants. If you can show us some pictures, that would help a lot.

I havnt any pics, but anybody close is welcome to have a look at it. I guess its just been standing for so long that I thought it might be more likely to be useable for spares. There is some rust, although it does not look major, and its never needed any structural work when it was MOT'd. It even started OK (with a recharged battery) last time I moved it, but that was 12 months ago.
Just to add, if someone wants it, I'm not looking for any money, just come and bring your trailer and take it away.
I dont always visit the site, so send me an email to

I went to have a look at the car today. As Alan says, it's a bit crusty round the edges having sat outside for a while. That's a shame as it's structurally quite sound but is a bit too untidy for an economical resto.
In its favour, the drivetrain should be pretty sweet, having only done 44k - the battery was totally flat so we didn't get it started today. No signs of any major leaks anywhere. The interior is also pretty much perfect, so would be great for anyone who wanted a blue GLS interior... seats, doorcards, parcel shelf and carpets all seemed ok.
I'd only want to scavenge a few mk.2 bits off it (Smiths dials, lights and interior) so I can't really take it just for that. I took some pics:
Almost entirely rust-free front valance:
A bit crusty at the bases of the wheel arches, like this:
Engine bay looks pretty tidy:
Nice blue interior:
Confirmation of the mileage:
Hope this helps. Someone should take it and save it from the scrappy... it's free!

Ed - thanks for doing this. Like I said, seems a shame to scrap it if the mechanicals are any good to one of you guys.
let me know. If I've not heard from anyone in, say a month, then its probably call the scrapman.
cheers

I'll probably find a home for the oily bits, if they're going to be crushed otherwise.

I'm not going to break it, its up for grabs as it stands. If you want it, come and get it, and you can then have whatever you like from it.
Just bring a trailer and a battery to start it.

Alan,
Would you be willing for me to remove the engine, prior to the arrival on the scrap man - if it indeed ends up going that way? I could do with a B19 down the line, and this sounds like a nice example. I'd save the whole car if I could, but the drive is just too full already
cheers
