My two-owners from new, 38k genuine miles, 3dr, 1983 340 GL is sadly now for sale. I've bought a camper van and the logistics of owning more than two vehicles is too complicated for me at the moment.

The MOT runs out in December and it will have 6 months' tax. I have a very full history file and there is very little wrong with the car. It has a couple of very minor rust areas, but absolutely nothing structural. Hopefully you can tell from the photos that it's in remarkably good condition.

The remaining issue is a leak somewhere in the vacuum system for the CVT. I haven't the time or experience to get to the bottom of this, but I really don't think it's going to be difficult or expensive to remedy. The car is perfectly capable of being driven, although fuel economy is not good at the moment becuase it won't idle unless set up with a rich mixture.

I'd really like it to go to an enthusiast who will finish restoring it to excellent original condition. There's a new front wing painted and ready to fit to replace the currently dented one.

I'd like to see somewhere close to £350 (inc. road tax).

Cheers, Ed

(These pictures were taken a few months ago but the condition is unchanged. I can provide any photos of anything specific on request.)

Camper Van :D - what type? (please say a VW).

If it is a VW say hello to the technical guru - 2 campers and a bug :P

It's a 1982 VW T25 with the 1.9 aircooled engine. Devon pop-top conversion and a set of Empi 5s. I wanted a decent van and don't have the money for a solid and reliable type 2, and I quite like T25s anyway.

Right - thats ok I know all about T-25's

I have two Type 2's

A 1976 Viking (My wifes really  )
and a 1972 former panel van - which sees a lot of my welder

bonus - I kept my first car a 1969/70 Type 1 1300 deluxe

so you going to Vanfest this year :D

oh and I have a 360/340 and a 940 (cough  )

I would have thought that would be bad planning, it was Run To The Sun last weekend - I guess things are always planned on a bank holiday weekend though.

And back to the original topic of this thread...

car is now SOLD.

The chap who bought my 360 obviously thought he'd got such a good deal that he came back and bought the 340 as well!

I'm glad it's sold, I keep looking back at this thread and nowhere to put it :(

Gone to a good owner I hope?

I don't think he's much of an enthusiast - he just likes my inexpensive rust-free cars. Hard to find in Plymouth.

I would have preferred to sell to a real fan, but I have to be realistic and I need the money... so the car goes to whoever's willing to pay for it.
