Save it! The 1.7 parts are quite sought after now.

Gotta be saved! If it really is a no rust car, then it's worth sorting what is probably a simple mechanical issue. At a stab in the dark I'd suggest replacing the sections of fuel pipe that fail as a result of Volvo scrimping on the spec from new. There are two short sections of cloth covered fuel pipe running from the main lines to the fuel pump, and then at the back from the tank to the main lines. The rubber inside perishes, resulting in it sucking air. They make starting it a PITA and I'd imagine when more fuel is required it can't get enough!

excuse the language but arse. I rang the chap today as i found somewhere to keep the car. Unfortunately he said it had already gone to the scrap yard. Rang the scrap yard and it's already been crushed. Damn

From "on offer" to "crushed" in just over 12 hours. Wow. :-o

If the scrappies knew how much in demand 1.7 parts are, maybe they wouldn't be so hasty :-(

I finally managed to win over the only unfriendly local scrappy the other day, and managed to have a whole chat with him. Usually don't get past a grunt, he said he's been putting them in the crusher, but will try and keep one out for me now. It's worth a talk to them tbh, if they think there's no demand, they won't keep it.

Make sure you tell her we all disapprove, and that you could have made quite a bit of cash from the car.

When i spoke to the scrap yard i did drop in to the conversation the club and what pity it was to lose another 340. The bloke did say they had other 340's there but to be honest the bloke was not interested and ended the conversation with the fact even if they still had the car they would not sell it.
