My Volvo 340 16V

Post by griffo20022 » 21 Apr 2008 04:59 pm

Hey guys, i've decided to put my car up for sale because I fancy a bit of a change.

*1989 (F-reg) Black Volvo 340 3Door
*119,000 miles on the clock
*Mot until September, Tax until end of August
*Renault 19 F7P conversion (1.8 16Valve)
*Yamaha R1 Bike carbs
*Yamaha R1 fuel pump
*Straight through exhaust to Aprillia RSV Bike can
*Mig spec diff
*Lowered on Nev spec springs and Mk2 escort lowering blocks
*Landrover uprated (No extra lift) gas shocks on rear
*Diff oil in front shocks
*Polybush ARB droplinks and ARB mounts
*Goodridge brake hoses (Fitted on front but includes rears also)
*Stripped out including sound deadening tar and painted in hammerite black
*Pair of "Mamba" bucket seats
*Luke 4 point harnesses
*Sparco 3 spoke steering wheel
*JVC MP3/CD player with uprated door speakers
*Matt black bonnet with Bonnet Pins
*13x7" Minilites painted in funky colours (lol)
*1 set of 13" Volvo steels (No tyres fitted), 1 set of 13" Vauxhall steels (with excellent tread on tyres) and 1 set of 14" TSW Alloys (with tyres but only for skidding use)
*Lots of various tyres to suit the wheels included

Spares include (not fitted): Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and Water Temp gauges, MK2 golf wheel arches, spare prop, spare grill, front bumper splitter, Volvo 340 and Clio haynes manuals, Vadis Volvo DVD, Battery Cut off switch (Non FIA approved), Spare ARB and a DW Hydro Handbrake (Hydro handbrake not included in price) Theres some other stuff i'm sure i'll dig out after this too.

Thats the spec off top of my head. I have owned the car since september and have been extremely pleased with it :D I've only ever had 2 major problems which now have both been cured, which were a f*cked gearbox and prop, and oil starvation in the engine.

The gearbox, diff and prop were all replaced with fresh fluids put in when changed. The engine has recently been pulled out and had a mild rebuild with headwork carried out by a very competant mechanic (Bennett on here) (Reciept to prove the headwork). The car has done less than 2000miles since this rebuild and runs very sweet!

The landrover shocks have been recently fitted and make a huge difference to handling as does the ARB items. I am currently in the process of rebuilding the front legs with the diff oil in and the goodridge braided brake lines. But as others have shown in the past the diff oil, again makes a huge difference on stiffening up the front end!

The car could ideally do with a choke cable fitting for the carbs to aid cold starting in the mornings, there is a choke cable with the car but it's slightly too short (This is a really cheap fix mind!)

The only problems I consider with the car are that there is some rot around the rear jacking points (Common area) although again this is an easy fix. There is also some rot inside the passenger wheelarch, although if the car hasn't gone soon then I will probably get the wheelarch done anyway! Also because of the bonnet being completely removeable I have had to disconnect the washer jets, my future intention was to fit Pug 405 style washer jets which are attatched to the wiper blades, so is easily overcome.

Apart from that she's an extremely fun and reliable car in my eyes! I use her as my daily driver and my toy and other than what is stated above, has never let me down! I have reciepts for nearly EVERYTHING I've bought for her since owning her and there seems to be a little bit of history with her before my ownership too. It's been my first skid car and has taught me alot! If she goes I will really miss her in all honesty! I've put alot of time and effort in the things i've done to her.

There is also a scaffold pole rollcage in it (lol) I will leave it in just incase someone may want it although to be honest I can't really see it being advantageous in anyway to be fair. The logbook still has the car down as a 1.7 so it would be down to the buyer to decide what they would like to do with the car insurance wise etc.

I think that's it anyway. I'm more than willing to answer any questions and if theres anything i've forgot in my description I shall change it at a later date.

Down to the nitty gritty...... I'm after £1200ono for the car, I know this is strong money but i'm in no rush to sell so I don't mind holding at that sort of price. As stated above the hydro handbrake isn't included in that price but can be sold with the car if i'm offered the right money. Everything else bar that is included and it's a plug n play drift car which suits beginners and is still very fun for well skilled drivers (as has been proved by others!)

Anyway after reading all the boring stuff, heres some pics (Note theres not many skid pics because i've only done 3 pod days in her and i'm a newbie driver, so don't let my pics put you off what she is capable of because the lack of skill is all down to me )

I'm looking at possibly E36 325's so if you know of any for pretty cheapish, 4 door, tourer, coupe whatever, than let me know :)

Don't worry I won't drive like a BMW driver if I get one

Good choice, I've been looking at e30 325's, as well as e36's. I've nearly bought 3 now, just everytime I bail because of the fuel consumption :(

Looking good Griffo, are you advetising this on RR too? People seemed to like it judging by your readers rides thread. Hope you get good money for it.

John can you still get onto RR becasue I can't seem to get anymore? It's like the websites just dissapeared?

I would get it on if it's still about lol!

The more and more I think of it the more I wanna get mine sold lol!

Chris, I would love to be able to use fuel consumption as an excuse to keep my car but to be honest mines currently about the same as a 325 anyway lol! Probs a bit worse for the likes of motorway runs lol!

Mine sounds way better though to be fair, will defiantely miss this sound!

Just thought i'd add a few pics taken from today.

The cars finished now and running again, she now has the Goodridge brake lines fitted onto the front brakes, and the diff oil is in and frick me has the car transformed!!!!! If this thing ever 3 wheels like before then may the lord strike my fat, black ass down!

Also heres the pics of the rot as stated, the wheelarch rot I have tapped all out until the metals solid on the edges so thats as far as it goes. I've waxoiled around all the edge and covered the hole over until I get it welded up (hopefully this weekend) so that should be one problem down.

Apologies about the interior pics with the sun, can get more upon request if needed :thumb:

Gonna re-bump this :)

The rot on the front passenger wheelarch has been welded up and painted over with sikaflex now so that's one problem down :)

Had the car at DWYB and it's rocking up real good now! (When I learn not to spin out lmao!) In saying that though I really fancy moving onto an E36 or something.

Might try my luck on ebay with it either this weekend or next.

Heres a quick sequence shot my girlfriend took from today :)

Probably one of the only times I managed not to spin heh heh!

Just to add as those pics show too, IT DOESNT THREE WHEEL ANYMORE lmao!!!
