I love this car but it really is time to move on as I now run a massive mutant Japanese 4x4 bus.

It's great around town, hammers down the motorway at eye watering speeds if you want it to, will carry a sofa, a washing machine or a cement mixer if need be and will steer with the right foot in the wet. I've used this as a family car, a commuter, and a bit of fun for 4 years straight and it's never failed to get me home. A very good example of a rare and sought after variant.

This car was first registered in 1985 but is 1984 spec. Comes in dark red and has a B19E fuel injected 2 litre Volvo lump in the front. Has a VDO dash and Leo alloys (the nice ones). It's done in the region of 75 000 miles (genuine) and will be supplied with 12 months MOT.

Unlike later GLT's this one didn't come with many toys. No central locking or electric windows, has automatic drivers heated seat (comes on when it's cold, goes off once the cabin warms up). Has front fogs and the Mk2 spoiler. Radio antenna is strapped to the side rather than on the roof - means you can reach out and extend or retract it from the driver's seat.

Has had a few subtle mods:
6 Dial dash, although ambient temp isn't hooked up. Will try to get this fixed before sale.
Cone engine filter which regardless of popular opinion does make the engine rev more freely.
Denso Iridium spark plugs, ditto.
Osram nightbreaker headlamp bulbs.
Red Koni adjustable shocks on the back which have transformed it.
Stealth Head Unit Install
Image

Stebel Nautilus Airhorn behind the front bumper (Very loud but still legal)
Image

Headlamp wipers deleted (but will be supplied if you want to put them back on.)
Wooden Momo steering wheel with chrome horn push. Horn works, indicators cancel.
http://www.volvo300mania.com number plates (legal ones)

Recent work (in the last 4 years anyway):
New Bosch Silver battery
New hydraulic front shocks
Timing Belt 35k ago.
New door and boot seals
New middle box and recent backbox.
New front wheel bearings (Volvo)
Replaced windscreen washer system.
New windscreen
Welding to jacking points and front offside turret.
Recent master cylinder.
Recent Bougicord HT leads
Serviced regularly

General condition: Pretty good.
Has a dint and deep scratch to the nearside rear wing where a bicycle went into the back of me. Bonnet has a dent and a slight crease thanks to some local kid - will need replaced to sort out, but i just lived with it. Rust to bottom of nearside front wing, and the odd speck here and there elsewhere. This car has not had the luxury of a garage. Overall for an original 24 year old car it looks great.
Engine is sweet, gutsy and solid. Bit of weepage round the gaskets but uses very little oil.
Gears do all they should do.
Weeping around the diff gasket. New one supplied but never got round to fitting.
Brakes are very good, recent pads on front. Shoes done about 4 years ago.
Toyo Proxes all round - these tyres are great and suit the car well.
Interior is good - one fag burn on rear seat from previous owner.

I will be sad to see it go, but with two kids under 5 it's time a younger man took custody of this beast. I would keep it, but I can only afford to keep one car on the road. I'd planned on keeping it and playing with it, but I know it would be underused and would suffer accordingly. This car deserves to be run everyday and loved.

Car is in Inverness and I want £600 for it. Will collect you from the airport or train station and pay your fare if car is misdescribed and you decide you don't want it. I don't have all the receipts for work done because I did most of it myself and bought lots of stuff of ebay. I would never sell a car I didn't believe in and will tell you about all the faults.

For this price it comes with spare engine mounts, steering rack, water pump, gasket set, exhaust backbox, Haynes manual, diff gasket, parcel shelf, engine mounts, dash, seat heating element, brake calliper seals and anything else I can find that I have stashed.

I'm sure i've missed stuff out - just ask if you have any questions or want to view or need additional pictures.

Car is SORNed, needs a new rear wheel bearing which I will sort before you come for it, and will have 12 months MOT. To be honest, a service is overdue.

Please do not ask me to remove parts from the car and sell them to you, that's not going to happen. All spares are included with the car and not by separate negotiation.

Phone me on 07939 274703 - I work in a hospital so wont always be able to pick up, but please leave a message and I'll get back to you.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! :(

<edit> (after having calmed down and read the post properly)

Congratulations, by the way. You'd mentioned it in a previous post, but I don't think I ever commented ;-)
A V300 is OK with two kids too ... But a collapsible pram is vital!
All the best!

Agreed - this is the one to have - you know you want it as a DD

Thanks, Mick - I'll still hang around for a bit even when I'm V300-less so you haven't got rid of me yet

Agreed, but a 3 door? It just wont work

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Chris - I was worried I was being cheeky - but damn it, it's worth that much, and that's a fact. Would be willing to negotiate a bit but not radically.

Must get on, I'm selling my house too!

Yeah, you can sit on the back of the folded front seat and face them as you strap them in - stop it! I'm supposed to be selling the bloody thing!

Why's it so hard to let go?

Well mate, congratulations on the baby, but sad news on the 360 being up for sale. I can honestly say you'll regret it one day, you will miss it! That is a nice car you have and it's realistic money you're asking for it considering the extra parts etc, but it's finding someone here who is willing to take on another 360, or that is keen to buy a 300 and look after it, not just a cheap car person who'll run it into the ground. There's always the option no one will buy it, then the decision will be made for you!

Wish I had the cash Ronnie, always liked this one a lot. It's a shame you're moving on but good luck with the sale anyway, I reckon that's a bargain.

You know I have a 5-door version, right...even down to having a B19E with VDO gauges (rare)? Care to do a deal? ;)

That's a pretty rare car, nowadays. Assuming it's still in the sort of condition it was ~18 months ago when I last saw it, that sounds like reasonable money.

cheers
