Just a feeler thread. I have on the way from Sweden an adpater plate for instance to be able to bolt a T5, T4 or any other engine from the family to a red block gearbox or bellhousing. To get the grey car back on the road it looks like i will have to sell it. Is anyone interested?
At the moment it owes me £200 but i may have tax to pay on it when it gets here.

Is this from KL racing? If so what were they like to deal with? I've spotted something I want from them.

sorry Adam , but why will you have to put any money into putting the grey car back on the road ?,

the insurance should cover everything

Well yes they should but sorting the T5 is not going to be as much of a priority due to finacial probs at the mo, i used the grey one as an excuse to be honest.

A T4 engine in a 300 would be excellent :D

T5 lumps are hecka cheap now too, so come on, who's gonna step up and be the first? I'm really tempted myself but it'll just sit there waiting for me to buy all the other stuff needed, like a 960 sump+pickup, and an emerald ECU.

What clutch combo would one use if one wished to mate it to a stock 360 bell house?

This really interests me :) Im new to the volvo scene so im sorry if this is a newbie question but what else is involved in fitting a T5? I gather its not a commonly done conversion. Is there a simple way to mount the engine or would it be a custom job?

5-pots up to about 2000MY use a conventional flywheel with (IIRC) NAs using a 228mm clutch disc. T5s use a larger clutch, again IIRC. You're probably best off trying to find a way of getting a FWD clutch with splines to match a 360 torque tube made...maybe a 360 disc with a FWD pressure plate, if it's a close match size-wise?

The other way is to adapt the flywheel to take a 'standard' clutch kit complete. I think the best way to do that (since, yet again IIRC, the FWD flywheel isn't dished like a 360 one) will be to use a 360 disc with an early 240's 'flat flywheel' pressure plate.

The clutch may well end up being custom anyway...plus there's a good chance you'll have to mess with the TT shaft and/or flywheel anyway to put the splines in the right position.

Mounts...custom, probably. AFAIK it has never been done. 960s have a 6-pot version of the same engine mounted longitudinally, so they're probably your closest match, but I imagine they'll need chopping about somehow. Beyond that...you need to wire the thing up...either factory management from an 850 (etc) or aftermarket.

For ease, a B200 or B230 turbo is much easier and neater....but a T5 is arguably more cool.

cheers

I think you'll have a lot of fun with the sump too... you could probably use a cut down 960 sump but I still reckon the crossmember will cause trouble in a 300
