My 360 turbo

Alright guys,

Really don't want to do this, i'm hooked again only after driving it to the MOT and back!

Done a bit of a generic advert which I shall be putting up elsewhere but thought i'd offer it up on here first incase there is anyone interested

Image

Right the time has come to bite the bullet, I’ve had a few days off work so tidied the car up, taken it for an MOT and it will have a 12 month ticket on Tuesday (required a new front shock and track rod ends)

Really don’t want to sell it after spending all the time on it I’d love to use it, I never built it to sell after such little use but now I have the S14 I can’t afford to insure and run both so the time has come to pass it on to someone that can make use of it

The car is a 1987 Volvo 360glt 3door which I purchased as a standard car in October 2005 and was magazine featured in Practical Performance Car November 2007. Some of you might already have seen the car a bit in various build threads, etc.

Spec list below:

ENGINE
Original B200e engine – 101k
Volvo 940 late spec turbo exhaust manifold
Mitsubishi 13c turbocharger – running standard boost 7.5psi
Volvo 940 turbo fuel rail, injectors and FPR
Vauxhall Frontera intercooler (front mounted with bodywork cut for direct airflow)
Megasquirt standalone ECU
Innovate LC-1 wideband lambda
Custom oil feed and return lines
Modified sump – had oil return ally welded into this
Custom exhaust system, 2.5” turbo back

CHASSIS
2 coils cut off the front springs
2” rear lowering blocks
Koni adjustable rear dampers
Obviously got GLT rear leafs (slightly lower and stiffer than all the other 340/60 springs)
Welded diff – swapped for a lower mileage replacement, changed gearbox and diff oil at the same time
Horizontal hydraulic handbrake
Locally fabricated rollcage, 4 point half cage with door bars welded to front arches .... doesn’t meet any regulations
Volvo Polux alloys painted in white
6 spare drifty wheels – 4 standard glt alloy wheels and two steel wheels

INTERIOR
Cobra Monaco driver’s seat with Luke 3 point harness, old school cobra clubman passenger seat
All soundproofing removed and interior painted matt black – carpets have since been put back in to quieten it down a bit as they weight nothing
Window switches relocated to din panel
Turbo timer
1ltr fire extinguisher
JBL 6x9s in shelf where rear seats would sit, Sony amp on the underside with a stereo headphone line running to the front so just plug in MP3 player etc

BODY
Black 3 door GLT – try to find another!
Original (not a copy) fibreglass body kit – very rare
Riveted on arches
Meshed front grill & tinted side repeaters
Original bonnet latch mechanism removed – bonnet pins fitted

BAD BITS:

There are some small areas of cosmetic rust just above the rear number plate, it also looks like there is some coming through at the ridge just at the bottom of the driver’s side window – these are just cosmetic and any rust in structural areas has been plated

The car has had some areas resprayed previously which you can just about spot in certain light, you really can’t tell and in pictures, etc it doesn’t show up at all, I just want to make it clear this is a car thats used and not a show and shine item

I will sell the car with a CD full off all the pictures I’ve taken over the years building it up and a copy of the magazine if desired lol

As far I am aware the only turbo 360’s in the country are this and xtrmjks’ white 5 door

The car has £400’s worth of ECU/wideband on it, and being a 3 door GLT in black rare as rocking horse... I’m asking £1500 which will also include 6 months tax.

I plan to take the car to Drift What Ya Brung Pod on 25th October so if anyone wants to have a look round, etc

I’ve got to take the sunstrip off for the MOT on Tuesday and I’ll also pull off the other stickers at the same time so the car will be back to plain black

No doubt I’ll be adding to this as I remember extra things, if your interested post here or drop me a pm!

Cheers

Ali

edit: new pictures added 17/10/08 as the car stands outside now

Im very interested in this matey, i'll be at santapod on saturday, would you be interested in selling it without the megasquirt?

Well I guess I could but then the car wouldn't run, kind of defeats the point as its all mapped and ready to go, when you say without the megasquirt do you mean without the wideband as well?

hello mate, i know it seemed like a stupid question its just ive got a V3 megasquirt on my bench from a previous project. It would be silly to seperate the work youve done on it already though chap. cheers though.

I know how you feel, trying to thin my current fleet as it is :)

My car is this one http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... c&start=30
I was at retro rides

it is a standard 1.8 16v, striped from the doors back (still got all the trim and seats) Its all in the above linkeh. buts it does just over 30mpg :)

do you know what sort of power yours is running at the moment?

Ahhh yes of course, sorry i'm completely out of touch with names to faces as I haven't been on here properly in years haha

As for the power errrm, probably 165bhp would be a guaranteed estimate, could be more but never had it on a dyno to find out, we did however use powerdyn which just works on car data and the rate at which it climbs the revs knowing ratio's etc and got this graph:

Image

so around the 160-170 region with torque to match and really low down power, actually quite funny to see its making the same torque as a standard 360 peaks at but at 2000rpm lol

Afraid i'd have to turn down a part-ex/swap, i'd only really consider one if it was for something I really wanted/needed more like a sensible daily driver
