Foggy's scrappage scheme - breaking 3 300s

Post by foggyjames » 30 Apr 2010 02:21 am

Howdy folks.

I've actually posted about breaking 2 of these 3 cars before...but I'm only now actually getting around to doing it. The 340 is a sad day for V3M - the death of Nessy...one of the founding cars (sheds might be more accurate) of V3M. Its execution papers aren't absolutely signed yet, but it's not looking hopeful. I'll have a look at it once it gets back to my house, but I suspect the rust bug will have taken hold in a big way underneath after it has been stood outside, on soil, for the past 2 and a half years.

For now, let's assume all are rusty beyond sensible restoration (for what they each are...with the GLT being the worst), and it's about time I had a clear-out / got them out of the way. All are nominally complete at the present time. Here's what we have...

1983 (Y-plate) 360 GLT 5 door in light metallic blue. B19E / M47. Spoiler and wheels have been sold...nice try ;)
1985 (B plate) 360 GLS 3 door in metallic bronze. B19A / M47.
1987 (D plate) 340 GL 3 door in white. B14.4E / M47. 360 colour-coded bumpers.

Bear in mind that body panels are likely to be shot, but you can ask. Andy (Hell Driver) has first pickings on the GLS, as it's going to his house to be stripped.

That's all I can think of right now, so ask away! I will go over the old threads for the GLS and 340 GL and see if anyone still wants bits they asked for back then.

cheers

- Rear parcel shelf in blue... perhaps the GLT?? Can't remember what colour they were.
- Might be interested in the GLS's carb (and maybe Renix)
- One of the headlights on Nessy looked good! :) (Must be looking as new really)
- Tempted by side repeaters and rear clusters from a Mk2 but I don't really need them other than spares
- Also after GLT lip (Maybe even just the outer corners as I have a middle piece)

What are the 3dr, door cards like? Plain vinyl/leatherette style or with a fabric bit matching the seat trim?

Parcel shelf aswell, colour doesn't really matter.

Just had a thought Foggy. I think John needs a pas GLT downpipe for my 2.3 glt Killdozer Wreckhammer.
Is there a decent one on the northward bound (not one of these ones) scrapper?

Hey guys,

Some answers...

The GLS is the brown/bronze/beige colour inside. The door cars have velour inserts...again, brown/bronze/beige. The 340 GL has blue and black vinyl door cards, with tweed inserts. From memory, they're not in A1 condition, but I can confirm nearer the time.

I'm not sure what colour the GLT's headliner is, Jeff, but I presume black. Were you looking for black or white? I'm sure I have a pair of fogs one way or another. I don't have any front spoiler pieces - sorry Steve & Jeff.

Steve - No blue parcels shelves. GLS carb is available (I think), but I'm not sure if it's renix or not. If so...the module itself, right? I'm sure I can sort you out a full set of lights for pretty cheap. I've got loads.

Mr PI...I definitely have some parcel shelves, if you're not worried about colour. Hopefully covered the door card situation earlier...

Ben the first - I'll be able to get a set of springs from something, sure. The GLT's valance is screwed. Not sure about the GLS. The GL one is *relatively* good, and it'll be the easiest to remove, so I'll probably just do that. What exactly do you want from the injection system. If it's everything...er...come and get it ;)

KDS - GLT DP...I will inspect it. You would give me an awkward thing to remove, wouldn't you? sm56

Ben the second - PAS DP...the car had one...but the engine is now gone, so I hope they removed the DP using spanners and not an angle grinder. Again, condition unknown. I think I have a spare, which I will throw in the car. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I might want some golds for it, as I think it was quite new. We'll sort you out somehow, anyway.

cheers

Do you have a decent driver's seat for the GL please? Mine's grey but not too bothered about the colour, main thing is it needs to be one without the spring poking through that has started to attack my insert euphemism of preference here when I get in. :o
