Woofer under rear seat?

Post by jtbo » 30 Jul 2009 09:55 am

I'm having bit of trouble finding location for subwoofer which my old man gave to me for some odd reason, we rarely even talk nowdays and I certainly don't understand lot from boom stuff

Trouble is that I need all of trunk space of my shopping cart, woofer is 10" and it has a box which makes it rather large.

I don't even know if there is enough space under rear seat, but I was thinking that there it would take less space, but how to attach it? Certainly it should be removed from box first, also trouble is with how to attach it, I can't drill hole to floor for sure.

I'm installing it only because I have found that listening opera helps me relax more during driving and subwoofer seem to add bit more depth to sound

I made a custom box for mine, the rear is angled at the same as the rear seat so that it doesn't intrude to the boot too far. Are you fitting it to the 300, or to the shopping car?

How about sinking it into the spare wheel well and making a false floor/new box dude? Should have enough room to make a decent sounding sealed box. That way you lose zero boot space. just carry a can of tyre weld lol.

*Edit, assuming it's a 360 or something with a wheel well lol.

This is for shitty french fwd shopping cart, in 360 there would be no problem as boot is much more roomy there, french crap has spare wheel under the boot floor outside of car, talk about poor design

Current rather compact box is taking almost half of boot floor and that is when it matches rear seat angle, space is so little.

It has kind of cavity covers, but don't know if I'm too keen to cut such off, that way there certainly would be more space.

One thing did cross my mind, how well subwoofer magnet and laptop hard drives can share same space? Maybe it is better to throw rear seats out, then I could put that current box to near front seats and some plane to separate cargo area where laptops will travel, must do wonders to sound quality (make it worse if that is even possible)
