343L DLS and other models not for uk

anyone got a pic of the L and DLS model i know that the uk never got these models
another fact i found that the GLT 240 also had an option of the same engine in the 264 model how comes volvo never sent these brilliant models to the uk ?

I just had a look at some UK Mk1 brochures, you're right, the only trim range on offer there was the DL! I never knew that ...

In Germany, the Mk1 trim ranges went a bit like this:

from '76 to '77, only the DL
'78 to '79 addition of the "L" base model to the range, boasting the original DAF-style hubcaps and steering wheel, chequered seat trim and no parcel shelf, no clock etc.
'80 the DL was replaced with the GL
in '81, the last Mk1 year, the "S-version" was added, so you could get a DLS or a GLS with the 2.0 litre B19A Volvo engine. Power bulge in the bonnet, integrated front spoiler, different instrument cluster with integrated clock and rev counter.

when i went to france once i saw a 343 L and i had a world cars cataloug at the time and i looked at the range of the 343 and found no L model for the uk market

The L version was actually part of the line-up from the beginning in 1976, in the Netherlands at least (cheap bastards aren't we)

As evidenced by Tom's scan in the other 343/345 discussion topic:



(only three colours to choose from, as well as vinyl upholstery instead of cloth)
