300's in "that" scrapyard

Post by magnumpi » 16 Feb 2010 11:43 pm

Well i don't know what the weather was like in your neck of the woods today but it hasn't stopped raining here today, which meant i couldn't go to work as i'm on an exterior painting job. But i did however get to go to the scrappy mentioned in the "offers" section :D

So after my "SatNav" failed me, i.e directions written on a piece of paper and me going the wrong direction on many occasions, i finaly found the place. It's a MASSIVE yard although most of it is off bounds i think although i probably could've taken a wander as they seemed friendly enough.

So i asked "have you got any Volvo 300's?", "er yes mate i think there's a few dotted about the place just go and have a look". Cool, so off i went and this is what i found.

Old trucks, most of the yard is for commercials so no suprise there:

Yes thats still the yard right off into the distance and it goes to the left and right aswell

Cool if not rotten as a pear wide body Starion

Drum roll, now the moment you've all been waiting for, Volvos

But how clean is that boot area!

Lastly was my cars 5dr brother:

Holey cills batman, don't look too bad here but it was pretty rotten

Interior mostly gone already

Whats the deal with these side trims? Same year as mine but had the thick side strips

Lastly my little hoard safely in my boot, all for less than you see one rear light cluster normaly go for on E Bay. I would've had both sets of Vario vents aswell but looks like someone beat me to it :?

Ha ha ha, good rummaging dude. That yard looks like Disneyland for adults. Without the queues. And Americans.
Could probably spend a fortnight toddling round there pointing at interesting things. :D

What bits are you after Griffo? I asked if you can hack bits off the body as some yards don't allow it, but he said it's fine, so with luck i'll be making a return trip and cutting the arse end off the white car with a reciprocating saw

VND wants a few little bits aswell so make a list and i'll see what i can do. I'll be going in a van next time aswell because although the parts were very reasonable my Larry Leadfoot driving style meant i did £20-30 of fuel there and back

Ideally i'd be after front passenger wing, boot and driver side seatbelt out of that white one as it'd save me having to even paint em too lol. They're not the sort of things you can ideally post on the cheap either lol

I spoke to the yard owner and asked how long will they be there before getting cubed, he said oh quite some time yet. I don't think they get rid of stuff by the looks of it

I doubt i'll be making my way back there this weekend now, so if others get there 1st grab what you can.

That G-reg has e-mirrors. A GL of that type must have at least mirrors adjustable from the inside, and this one doesn't have the adjusters on the door.

Nice scrapyard! I could walk around there for days...
