some mechanics are of the opinion that Gas Shock Absorbers are simply waste of money and will never last longer. Is this true ?
I know that the comfort level of a car depends on a number of factors in addition to the Shocks. But are these Gas Shock Absorbers really superior in absorbing bumps when compared to our old ones ?
OR is it just a marketing gimmick from the part of car manufacturers ?
GAS SHOCKS
Re: GAS SHOCKS
They are better in almost any way, oil shock tends to loose damping abilities when it heats and it heats very well at bumpy road, Gas shock does not have so bad problem when heating.
I can't recall which one did last longer, but I don't think that oil shocks are too good, I have oil shocks at rear and gas at front and I think that oil shocks at rear made car quite surface stiff, all bumps feel harsher than before. Front damps better without this annoyance, of course before replacing those shocks were quite badly worn, there was none damping left and rear suspension has leaf springs that might also add to that effect so hard to say real difference to ride comfort.
